the absolute worst thing to ever ever EVER happen to a disordered person, especially those of us with anxiety based disorders (or disorders with a side effect of anxiety) is for our fears and/or unhealthy coping mechanisms to be validated. and in most media where a disordered character takes the focus, writers try to show them Not being validated, to show that the Disorder is Lying and you can get better!! the disorder is lying to you and you need to know that!

but alastor? oh hell no. every fear and maladaptive habit he has is validated over and over, and it just pushes him further into his poor coping mechanisms and one day it's gonna get him. oh it's gonna. analysis posted per the request of my honorable mutual @alastor-insanity, who got to hear all this first. when the dm reply reads "you should post this actually," who am i to refuse the call?

So, while Alastor has the mentality of "giving and receiving help will only make things worse for you, but doing it yourself will get the results you want", and gets results that reinforce that.

Charlie has the mentality of "Help is always an option and working together will always give the best results. While, doing things alone just makes everything worse", and SHE gets results that reinforce that.

If you want to compare mental health comparisons: It's a person who always had access to therapy/resources and around people who support/understand mental health issues vs A person who never had any resources and is surrounded by societal pressure to not show mental health issues (1900s asylums and hospitals were not great and Alastor is already a distrustful person).

I have been thinking about this post that I made and realised something. If my theory about Alastor being the current source of Husk and Niffty's overlord powers is true, then the Radio Trio presents an alternative to owning souls as a means of gaining overlord-level powers.

Alastor became the most powerful sinner in hell, not through owning souls, but through a deal with Rosie. Rosie saw something special in his soul that led her to make that deal with Alastor. A potential that could be unlocked. Alastor is the first evidence we have that there is a way to gain an overlord's powers without owning souls, with the level of powers that you can gain through this method likely tied to the potential of the soul. Alastor is also evidence that the powers gained through these deals are not lost after the deal ends and the connection to the dealmaker is broken, as he still has his powers afterwards.

Then, there is Husk. Husk, who lost all his souls through gambling, but still has the powers of an overlord through his deal with Alastor. If Husk no longer owns souls, that would mean that his powers as an overlord come from Alastor. Alastor, who would likely have learned the method of granting overlord powers to a sinner without owning souls from Rosie through his deal with her. However, Husk has owned souls, and Alastor likely owns some souls, so there might be an argument that some level of soul ownership in the past or present is required to trigger or maintain overlord powers.

This is where Niffty comes in. While I have no doubts that Niffty could become an overlord of her own volition if she desired it, nothing about Niffty gives the impression that soul collection with the intention of becoming an overlord is something she has desired or would engage in. Gathering the number of souls one would need to become an overlord is something a person would have to put deliberate effort into, and I just don't see Niffty as someone with an interest in it. It has already been established with Alastor being the most powerful sinner on arrival in hell that you don't need to own a soul to be granted overlord-level powers. It is therefore possible for Alastor to have granted her overlord powers without her owning a single soul. She also wouldn't need to gain souls to maintain the power, as with Husk, we see that overlord powers can be maintained even after an overlord has lost their souls.

Putting Sevika on the council as the only Zaunite, as if she alone could outvote the Pilties and thinking this is a good ending for the undercity is insane. Zaun should've been free. Or at the very least have an equal amount of Zaunites and Piltover people on the council to even it out.

But then I thought of what if?

I don't know what would cause them to go to the same school, so I wouldn't do that probably.

But Alastor is the one who sees magic everywhere while Vincent is the one who's sceptical of everything and is closed off. Slowly, through Alastor's ability to find magic everywhere, whether real or not, Vincent opens up and allows himself to love others. Though mostly Alastor.

But this was always meant to be a tragedy.

I haven't seen the movie but I know the basic plot from looking it up out of curiousity and watching Nostalgia Critic's review of it several years ago and thought it looked good!

The idea of Vox (or Vincent) feeling jealous of the new kid, Alastor, because he outdoes him in something (perhaps song and dance?) only to develop a crush on him and not realise it until after a certain event.

Perhaps Vincent in this AU ends up becoming an author or script writer who makes a series based on his adventures with Alastor?
