"Waa why aren't fandoms fun anymore" because you keep policing people's headcanons, make fun of cosplayers, make fun of selfshipers, make fun of beginner artists and just make fun of people for having fun π
Also nobody talks to each other anymore. People lurk silently and sometimes like stuff, but nobody exchanges their thoughts and ideas anymore. Which is pretty shit considering fandom is a hobby that is supposed to be about community and not mere consumption.

it's so wild to me that you absolutely cannot force a hyperfixation to happen. like you'll watch the most perfectly tailor-made-for-you content that everyone says you'll love and feel absolutely nothing, and then the thing you watch on a whim to fill time will reach through the screen and put its damn fingers in your brain and start rearranging the neurons right in front of you and every single time you're like THIS??? THIS??????? and this happens like every 6-12 months forever
Reblog if you're grateful for your internet friends

disclaimer: I am east asian. if anyone who is not white sees anything wrong with my phrasing, inaccuracies, or insensitivity, or something I missed, please feel free to add on. Iβm just one person with one perspective; none of what I say should be taken as The Singular way to draw an Asian character. if you havent done so already, please take the effort to expand your view of Asian culture outside this one tutorial.
if a white person reblogs this and adds something stupid Iβm going to bite and kick you like a wild animal
I LOVE this post and wanted to add some additional info, cause I see a lot of people who assume that drawing asian hair is the same as drawing white hair. This is not the case! Thereβs more to it than just the color.
Image description for the original post and my addition are underneath the read more at the end.
Thank you for reading! Once again, image description for my images and OPβs images are under the cut.
Just like OP, Iβm only one single person, so if anyone wants to correct me or add something I missed, then go for it. And further disclaimer, there are exceptions to everything Iβve said in this post, and it only applies to East and Southeast asian people who are either not mixed or white-mixed, as those are the hair types Iβm most familiar with.
Edit: AUGH I FORGOT TO mention this but @ everyone in the comments talking about blue eyes on biracial asians, hereβs another guide I made that goes over color inheritance for biracial people: https://6480n.tumblr.com/post/633074808569069568/making-this-guide-because-i-see-this-question-time

Something I will never get with teenage or college aged girls sneering at anyone over 25 who's still involved in fandom is... what do they think they're gonna do when they reach that age?
Are they really going to drop everything that they enjoy and makes them happy once they reach a certain age? Do they really believe they're on a time limit to enjoy fanart and fanfiction and headcanons?
God what a miserable way to spend your teen and early adult years.

Anyway this disability pride month I would like to shoutout disabled folks whose creativity has suffered because of their condition. Iβm talking people with hand tremors and pain that stop them from drawing, knitting, and playing instruments. People whose thinking has become so disorganized that nothing they write makes sense to other people. People with chronic pain who can no longer dance. People so over medicated in a fruitless attempt to maintain stability that the wells of their imagination have run dry.
I see you and I love you. You are more than your creative output. You are not a shell of what you used to be. You are a whole, complete person, regardless of what your creativity has been, is now, or will be in the future.

So I think that starstruck guy is a good example (if heβs not just a troll bot) of something Iβve seen in this kind of mindset: they think women, LGBTQ people, and people of color are outsides because βtheyβve never seen them in nerd spaces before.β And thereβs a reason for that that can be answered like this: what is your local comic book store like? Whatβs the vibe?
Because Iβve been to comic stores all across the country, and quite a few of them give off the vibe of βgross man cave.β No duh you donβt see women in a place like that. Hell, Iβm a dude and I donβt usually like going to stores like that.
And in the 2000s-2010s, I made sure to avoid mentioning being autistic or Hispanic on any comic book forum sites, because I knew I would be bombarded by Mexican slang jokes (even though Iβm not Mexican) and the r-slur. So itβs not that non-white, non-male, non-straight comic fans and nerds didnβt exist until the 2010s-2020s. Itβs that they stayed the hell away from places that were openly hostile or creepy to them.
Am I onto something or am I just talking out of my ass?
No, you're completely right. There are plenty of stories of women not hanging out at comic shops and other supposedly dominant male spaces simply because the vibe of the places WERE hostile to them.

the removal of physical media is not the inevitable progression of improving tech, its like the removal of the 3.5mm jack: purely a result of profit physical games still account for about 1/5th of all sales of video games
but by only selling digital games sony can be the ultimate arbiter of their price. they can stop you lending games and force another sale instead. they can stop the sale of second hand games and keep prices artificially high. they can set any price they want and that will be your only option.
