After Nineteen Years

•She wishes in another world she got the chance to meet her brave grandparents-James and Lily. She imagines they’d be the best of friends

•School comes quite easily to her, she’s a natural at it and thank Merlin for that. She can’t seem to muster enough motivation for it half the time

•She has a love hate relationship with how much she looks like her mother. On the one hand her mum is her idol and bloody gorgeous! However, she’s a firm individualist, she loves to be her own person with her own motivations. She hates that when some look at her all they see is her mum.

Lily and Teddy are two peas in a pod! They have a close and special bond and mean the world to each other. Cute little headcanon, when Lily was a baby Teddy was the only person who could calm her down when she was having a meltdown. Something about having him near made her incredibly happy and calm. Furthermore, during Teddy’s wedding to Vic his “Best Man” wasn’t a man at all but it was Lily, his “Best Woman”. Teddy’s never been one for tradition :D

Yay Feminism!! <3

Vic: She’d be a very strong advocate for equality for men and women. Feminism is incredibly important to her and she finds it to be of the utmost importance that she is both aware of the inequalities in the world and is willing to make change. Vic’s future career is that of a Healer and it’s very male-dominated. I feel like she regularly runs into some sexist wizards but she would fight day in and day out to ensure they realize she is their equal, not their subordinate.

Dom: Just like Vic, she’s a raging feminist but unlike her sister who is willing to have long discussions and debates, Dom is more likely to yell in an opponent’s face. She’s tired of always having to be the more mature one in a debate that really shouldn’t be disputed. Feminism is about equality and if someone disagrees with that, Dom has no time to be civil.

Molly: Molly is definitely a feminist but more of a quiet one (if that makes sense). She’s not the type to get into fights with idiots who disagree and she’s not the type to be getting into public disputes. She is the type of person who has her own set of ideals and won’t really push them onto anyone else if they disagree. She recognizes that she is her own entity and is against harshly castigating those who may have a different perspective.

Lucy: Her definition of feminism is not only equality, but freedom of choice. She sees women harshly criticized and judged for every little move they make and it angers her greatly. Why can’t women do what they want, when they want? She wishes people could clearly see the inequalities so present in their society and one of the few times she gets high strung and fired up is when she’s outlining the issues seen in the world and the many people hurt by this.

Roxanne: She’s probably the most involved in gender equality issues and the social justice arena out of the girls (with Rose and Lily coming in a close second). She sees the world differently from her cousins and that’s in part due to her biracial identity. There is no question that while all women have obstacles put in place for them, white women have privileges not experienced by other groups of women. Roxy is a passionate intersectional feminist and she spends a lot of time and energy organizing peaceful protests and meetings so that more people can be informed of the inequitable world they live in. She loves being an activist and it’s a realm she feels she truly belongs in.

Rose: She’s also a raging feminist! The need for true equality is ingrained in her bones and she takes a firm stance on where she stands and why others should as well. Unlike Molly, whenever she can, she has debates with other people detailing why feminism is necessary and why they should trust in it too. She finds it discouraging that their is such a negative connotation associated with feminism and spends a lot of her time educating and informing others on why feminism is not a taboo topic but instead a very important movement.

Ok, so I really think that each next gen kid is a hardcore feminist and I refuse to believe otherwise! :) I just feel like their parents instilled the need for equality in all of them you know? For both the boys and the girls because of course feminism is not only for women. I have another ask about this so I’ll go more in depth in a second post, but below I‘ll answer what other movements the kids are invested in. I’m going to use Muggle issues <3

Teddy: LGBTQ Rights// Teddy is very invested in the oppression of members of the LGBTQ community and fights very hard to enact change and tolerance in his community. Love is love and no one should be mistreated because of who they are and who they love.

Vic: Anti-War Movement// Vic is as close to a pacifist as she can get. She thinks war causes too much pain and suffering and wants to see it end. Diplomacy should come first, not the use of weapons.

Dom: Pro-Choice// Dom is a strict advocate for a woman’s right to choose. She’s appalled that men think they have the right to control such a personal matter and can’t quite believe that people are ignorant enough to try and put a stop to it. They are only succeeding in banning safe abortions, not all abortions. It’s her body and it’s her choice.

Louis: Free Love// He believes people should accept all forms of love in any way or shape. He doesn’t see the need for lots of regulation and wishes things were simple and easy for everyone.

Molly: Environmental Conservation// She doesn’t understand why there is a debate over protecting the Earth and wishes people would just get their heads out of their asses. Silly little trifles won’t matter if we don’t have a planet to live on.

Lucy: Animal Rights// She’s an animal lover right to the core and weeps at the conditions of some shelters and the abuse many animals see and are exposed to. She wishes more laws were passed to enact change.

Fred: Prison Reform// He’s appalled at the way prisoners are treated and he loathes institutionalized racism. He thinks it’s an incredibly corrupt system and he believes it plays into the cyclical nature that prisoners feel forced into. He believes in rehabilitation as opposed to punishment.

Roxanne: Black Lives Matter// The amount of black lives unfairly taken and no justice being carried out fires Roxanne up like nothing else. The amount of bloodshed is sickening and the court system is not doing its job. Black Lives Matter, even if many don’t deem it so.

Rose: Equal Education// It pains her that in many regions of the world girls aren’t given the same opportunities to be educated like their male counterparts. Malala Yousafzai is her hero and she wishes that the joys of education could be experienced by all.

Hugo: Environmental Conservation// He too wants to protect and conserve the environment. He finds it to be so necessary and it scares him that more people don’t feel this way.

James: Black Lives Matter// He feels the same way as Roxanne and is angered by the blatant disregard for black lives. He doesn’t see why there’s a debate and finds that the presence of one goes to show how little, people actually care.

Albus: Gun Control// Guns. Need. To. Be. Regulated. So many people have been brutally murdered by the use of guns by crazy individuals and the fact that this could be easily avoided by smart legislation boggles his mind (I recognize that this a very American issue but it really makes me furious, I had to add it)

Lily: Intersectional Feminism// She not only advocates for the rights of white women, but the rights of women of color, LGBTQ women, women with disabilities, and women who may not follow the conventional standard of beauty. Not all women have the same experience so all perspectives of life need to be viewed and appreciated.

Scorpius: Prison Reform// He and Fred are on the same page. He believes the system sets up people for failure and it unfairly discriminates against minorities. Prisons don’t want their inmates to change, they want them to come back and this is completely wrong.

Teddy: He’s 100% the nice guy on campus. Everyone knows his sweet face and kind smile and he regularly gets shouted out when he’s walking around. Teddy’s the kind of bloke who likes to stop and have random chats with complete strangers and he’s so lovely and charming. He’s always there to offer advice for a random student and directions for that girl who looks horribly lost. He loves his uni and finds the people amazing. On the academic side, he’s a fantastic student and is at the top of his classes. He and Vic are also the school’s power couple and their relationship is so closely observed.

Victoire: She’s the popular girl who everyone thinks is mean and cold but she’s actually the sweetest. People often judge Vic but much like Teddy she’s always there to lend some help. I know sororities are more of an American concept but Vic would definitely join the British equivalent. She’s into the concept of sisterhood and would be absolutely intrigued. She would probably rise the ranks of her sorority quickly and would eventually become president. Like Teddy, she excels in school and is quite excited about the concept of learning (She’s a Ravenclaw through and through). She’s one of those people who would look back at college as the best years of her life.

Dom: Of course, she’s the resident party girl! She is seen at/invited to all the parties and always brings the fun. Unlike her sister Vic, she can be quite cold and stand-offish but this persona completely sheds when she’s at her true element (and that’s on the dance floor at her parties). She knows how to have a good time and Victoire has to constantly check in on her little sister to ensure her grades are still afloat (they rarely are). She’s also a fantastic football player along with her best friend Roxy.

Louis: He’s a combination of his sisters. He loves a good party and probably goes to more than he should but unlike Dom he maintains somewhat of a balance. He’s naturally smart (Hugo always moans at this) and doesn’t have to put as much of an effort into his studies so it’s easier for him to let loose. He is very much sought after at Uni and the amount of girls he’s dated is practically illegal. He has the looks and the charm, why not live a little? <—– His motto, not mine :)

Molly: Molly is easily the Student Body President. She’s the woman in charge and is also in charge of many clubs and programs (many of which she started herself, her favorite/priority is her Gender Equality Club, Roxanne is Vice President). She doesn’t see Uni as one big party like Dom but as her chance to really be seen in the world. This is her chance to begin to network so that she can get her name out there. Molly is constantly busy/organizing something/orchestrating meetings. Lucy and/or Vic regularly check in on her to make sure she’s eaten at least 2 meals that day.

Lucy: Lucy’s the kind of girl who loves to try everything. She’s apart of a few sports, she’s joined a few clubs, and she has many different friends from different groups. She finds Uni to be filled with so many opportunities and wants to take advantage of them all. She’s another friendly face on campus but not as well known as Teddy. But she’s always available for a nice chat and a bright smile. Her favorite thing about college is the independence. Molly knows to give her her space when she needs and Lucy loves being able to do things on her own.

Fred: Fred’s a right laugh! Like Dom he’s frequently seen at parties and has heaps of friends. He can constantly be seen around campus, laughing and scheming with James or charming his professors in his classes. Like Lucy,  he sees Uni as a fountain of opportunity and he’s got this mentality to seize every moment. He is a very social person and is a bright ball of energy. He’s also a prankster and is filled with jokes (both hilarious and stupid) I feel like him and James would join a fraternity but they would not be stereotypical frat boys. They know how to have fun but they aren’t arseholes (well, not intentionally) and know how to accept rejection. Fred is such a beautiful person inside and out and has a heart of gold, it’s hard for people not to love him.

Roxanne: Roxy is both the athletic girl and the activist :) She’s part of lots of clubs too but hers are mainly clubs dealing with equality and the rights of the marginalized. Since this is the muggle world, she’d be an integral member of clubs like LGBTQ rights, Gender Equality Clubs, and Black Lives Matter clubs. She frequents protests and is always thinking of ways to fight for true freedom and equality for all. She finds it to be her duty as a human being and she quite enjoys it. Besides, she’s a black woman and will be damned if she bows down to others. Her social justice activism is her priority but she’s also a star athlete. She’s the star player of the football team (soccer for Americans) and the rugby team as well. She’s quite popular for this but grumbles that she sees more people at her games as opposed to her protests.

Rose: Rose is quite like Roxy. She too is part of many equality clubs and attends as many protests and meetings as she can. Equal rights are very important and she vows to always fight for true equality. Unlike many of her family though, she’s very focused on her studies and her grades are super important to her. She constantly aims to be the top of her class (and she normally succeeds). She consistently excels in her classes and it’s not for lack of trying. On Friday nights you won’t see her at parties but revising diligently in her dorm room. She’s a hardworker and wants to be the best of the best.

Hugo: He’d have the best time at Uni! Like Lucy, he thrives off of the independence. Having parents like Ron and Hermione would be amazing of course, but a bit smothering at times. He enjoys waking up when he wants to, eating what he wants to, and making decisions for himself. He is still his mother’s son though and academics are very important to him too. He studies hard and the work pays off, like Rose he too is top of class. He enjoys a party every once in awhile and does have lots of friends. A bit like Teddy, he’s the nice guy and people flock to him.

James: Oh boy, this boy is a riot. He too is a partier and because he’s a natural genius he can spend most of his time socializing. He lives by the philosophy that he’ll sleep when he’s dead and doesn’t think he should waste his time by being locked in his dorm. He and Fred are quite popular on campus and are upstanding members of their fraternity. James is hilarious and attracts everyone. Girls (and boys) love him and he quite enjoys the attention. His booming laugh is almost always audible somewhere on the campus and he is the definition of life of the party. He is also into sports like Roxanne and is a starring member of the men’s football team.

Albus: He’s the cool, mysterious guy everyone wants to get to know. Like Rose, his grades are super important to him and he can be frequently seen in different cafes studying for his latest exam. With his jet black hair, and emerald eyes, he’s the object of many people’s affection but he doesn’t let many into his inner circle. He’s the president of a few clubs close to his heart and he is also a social activist. Him, Roxanne, Rose, Scorpius, and Lily spend lots of time together discussing problems currently plaguing society. Albus doesn’t realize how well regarded and respected he is on campus and prefers to be in his comfort zone. James always makes sure he doesn’t get too much in his own head though. Albus secretly appreciates this.

Lily: She’s the “it” girl, easily :) She too joins a sorority and follows in Victoire’s steps and becomes president. She too lives life to the fullest and being quite a natural genius like James gives her time to do things she loves. She is on the rugby team which shocked many because she’s so small but proved many wrong when she showcased her supreme skill. She is apart of many clubs and is an avid member of all of Roxanne’s clubs. She is an activist to the core and finds it absolutely necessary to fight for what’s right. She is a party girl too and brings a lot of fun and joy to the scene. Uni offers her a sense of individuality and she finds she can truly be herself. People are obsessed with her too, everyone either wants to be her or be with her. She tries to ignore this aspect of her life.

Scorpius: Him and his best friend Albus are one in the same. He’s mysterious and always seems to have his guard up but that doesn’t make people want to know him any less. He is constantly seen with Albus and Rose around campus and is at the top of all his classes. Uni is his escape from his life at home and he was able to fully come into his own. Al and Rose are incredibly important to him and he feels like he’s finally found a purpose in life. His classes bring him much joy and he too is involved with social justice issues. With such a prejudiced family, he feels like he can truly make a difference in such a dark world by bringing the light.

Victoire: 50% Extroverted//89% Friendly//35% Party Girl

Vic’s not a complete introvert, she’s pretty outgoing and likes to be around people but she also likes to stay in and have some alone time. She’s equal parts reserved and extroverted. Vic is also extremely friendly. She’s got an incredibly kind heart and always chooses to see the best in people. She’s a firm believer in second and third chances and will always lend a helping hand. Concerning parties they are not her scene, at all. She doesn’t find them fun and thinks it’s just the same old routine every time. She tries to be a good sport and goes to some when her friends or family ask but she never truly has a great time. She prefers gatherings and get-togethers with her closest relatives. 

Dominique: 89% Extroverted//45% Friendly//99% Party Girl

Dom is very extroverted, she thrives off the company of others and is the antithesis of being shy or reserved. She’s rarely seen alone and finds comfort in being with her friends. Despite this, she’s not the…nicest person around. She tries, she really does but Dom is naturally stand-offish and doesn’t take to well to new people. She has trust issues so it takes her a while to warm up to others. It’s really not personal, she’s just not exactly the first person to go to. On the party aspect, they’re Dom’s safe haven. She loves a great party and is always either throwing them or attending them. She finds them exhilarating and will always be there to party. Those who don’t like parties confuse her greatly.

Molly: 38% Extroverted//60% Friendly//27% Party Girl

Molly considers herself an introvert but she’s a lot more outgoing than she gives herself credit. Yes, she loves being on her own but she wouldn’t feel fully fulfilled if she were always on her own. Molly is also pretty friendly, not as much as Vic but she’s defintely a loving person. She shares a lot of similarities with her namesake in this sense, she’s very welcoming and likes to give comfort to others. She doesn’t like when someone is unhappy and is incredibly supportive of everyone. She was made Head Girl for a reason, she’s always there for her student population purely because she wants to help in any way she can. However, Molly loathes parties with a passion. Her and Vic always had girls nights whenever their classmates were partying. She finds them incredibly dull and thinks they lack any stimulation. 

Lucy: 65% Extroverted//99% Friendly//65% Party Girl

Lucy’s pretty out there. She loves the company of others and doesn’t really like to be alone. Her favorite things to do consists of group activities and she likes people in general. This connects to why she’s so friendly. Without a doubt Lucy is the friendliest of the next gen. She’s a quintessential sweetheart and she derives her happiness from the happiness of others. She’s incredibly kind, genial, and bubbly and would give her all to the benefit of others. She also likes a good party, it’s impossible to be best friends with Lily and hate them.She finds them fun and she enjoys letting loose and relaxing with her best friends.

Roxanne: 90% Extroverted//73% Friendly//95% Party Girl

Roxy is so vivacious, passionate, and fiery. She’s veeeerrrryyyy outgoing and is extremely sociable. She loves meeting new people and has the gift of gab as well. She hates being alone and thinks there is nothing more boring. Roxy’s also very friendly, something she got directly from her father. She can be very sweet and her humor is always a welcome gift. There’s no reigning this one in, she’s so full of life and charm that many fall in love with her on the spot. She doesn’t like mean people and wishes everyone would just relax and be chill. It’s funny because this is one of the few areas where her and Dom differ, Roxy’s way sweeter than her blonde best friend. Roxy also loves a good party. She loves the good music, the lively people, the fun dancing and of course the drinks. Her, Dom and Lily are always lives of the party and she’ll rarely turn a good one down. 

Rose: 31% Extroverted//75% Friendly//40% Party Girl

Rose isn’t very extroverted. She’s very reserved and prefers to keep to herself. She loves being alone and makes sure she always designates time for just herself. Of course she likes being around her friends and family but if she spends too much time with others she feels drained and cranky. She loves being by herself and finds it incredibly necessary. She’s also a very nice person. She finds that being kind is imperative and hates people who are rude and impolite. Rose finds this completely ill-mannered and uncivil. Future Head Girl herself, Rose thinks that helping those who need it is the least she can do and quite enjoys it. Rose isn’t technically a “party girl” and doesn’t often go to one but if she’s in the rare mood she would definitely go and have a good time. She thinks they’re great but she’s not always up for attending one.

Lily: 95% Extroverted//80% Friendly//93% Party Girl

“What we do best, look fit.” James smirked.

“Ugh, you two are so bloody modest” Dom snarled.

Despite their differences, James and Albus were extremely close brothers. They loved each other immensely and despite some of the arguments they had they were always there for each other, no matter what.

“My photography project in Muggle Studies, I want no smiling in this portfolio!”

“I’m trying! But look at what James is doing behind you!”

“Pay the buffoon no mind.”

Victoire: She loooooves makeup! She thinks it’s such an art form and is always buying fashion magazines to look at and try new makeup looks. She hates when makeup gets a bad rap, especially when it’s such a hard skill to master. She gets the love of makeup from Fleur 100% and if she were a muggle she would definitely be a beauty guru on Youtube. She’s the family’s designated makeup artist and takes this role seriously. Growing up she would always experiment on family members (regardless of gender mind you). Louis, Teddy, James, and Fred were her favorite models. On the daily basis, she rocks a “natural” makeup look but for special occasions she goes all the way out.

Dominique: She also is obsessed with makeup, it’s so much fun for her and she loves how it makes so many people happy. She hates all makeup critics with a passion and would love to punch them all in the face. Her mother instilled the love of makeup into her and her sister when they were teenagers (”Makeup enhances what is already there mes amours”). Everyday is a catwalk for her and she always goes big on her daily makeup look. Her eyeliner is always on point, so much so it annoys everyone by how perfect it is. She’s also a great makeup artist and her family members also go to her when they need their makeup done. Vic’s better at the softer look and Dom is pro at the dramatics.

Molly: She repels makeup. She’s not a fan and doesn’t think she looks good in it (something her cousins vehemently oppose). She just doesn’t think it’s necessary and thinks it’s a hassle, at least for her. She secretly envies those who are good at it and wonders if she were more skilled, would she wear it more? It’s for this very reason Vic loves doing makeup on her. Even Molly admits she looks good when Vic works on her.

Lucy: She likes it. She’s a casual makeup wearer, she only really does the basics (mascara, foundation, lipgloss). She too wishes she were more talented at doing makeup and loves watching her cousins doing their own makeup, it’s mesmerizing and soothing to her. When she was little she would always run to her mother’s room, sit on the edge of her parents’ bed and watch her mother get ready. This always amused Audrey who remembered that Percy would do the same thing in the early days of their relationship. She sometimes experiments with new colors and techniques and is always ready to learn more from her older family members. 

Roxanne: On a daily basis, Roxanne rocks no makeup (and looks unfairly stunning) but for some weekends and special occasions she does professional level makeup. It’s always amusing to some considering they view her as a tomboy but those who know her best know she’s definitely got a girly side. Roxanne thinks makeup is incredibly fun and is a great way to express herself. She’s always trying out funky lashes and different colors, something only she could look good while doing. She admires Vic’s ability to do other people’s makeup because while she can make herself up expertly, she struggles with doing others’ makeup, something that bums a lot of people but she’s working on it. She wonders where she inherited her love of makeup considering her mother rarely wears a stitch. She taught herself everything she knows and is very proud.

Rose: She’s not opposed to it but doesn’t normally wear it. She might wear some lipstick or wear some foundation and concealer but this is only on days when she’s up to it or her skin is in especially bad condition. She marvels at the magic of makeup and like Lucy, loves watching the process. She has a steady hand and can do good eyeliner but normally opts out of doing so thinking it’s too flashy for the day-to-day. On special occasions she goes to the more experienced Dom and Vic rather than trying herself. The makeup debate also pisses Rose off, she writes it off as yet another testament to the patriarchal need to control everything (ever the feminist she is). It’s a woman’s right to govern what she does with her body and people who disagree can shove off.

Alright, I don’t want this to be toooo explicit so I’ll put it quite succinctly!

Boys: Fred or Lysander, these two are the best for two very different reasons. Fred makes things fun and playful. He makes sure things aren’t awkward or nerve wracking and makes the experience extremely enjoyable. Lysander on the other hand is an intense person and places great importance on these types of things. For him, every single moment is meaningful and that’s how he performs.

Girls: Probably Dominique, she’s had the most practice and experience and treats the act like art. She’s graceful and elegant and gives her all in everything she does. While it’s fun, she doesn’t necessarily treat is as a game but as a skill to master and frankly she’s an expert.
