Paul McCartney taking a moody mirror selfie with his 35mm Pentax camera in London, December 1963. Back in late 1963, the guys in the band bought lightweight 35mm Asahi Pentax cameras so they could document their crazy lives from their own perspective. Paul ended up taking this particular mirror frame in his top-floor attic room at the Asher family home on Wimpole Street, where he was living with his girlfriend, Jane Asher. That room is hallowed ground in pop history—it’s the exact space where Paul woke up a few months later with the melody to "Yesterday" completely formed in his head. You can see him looking straight into the lens here, catching a quiet, reflective moment of youth right before the Fab Four hopped across the Atlantic and changed music forever.
