“Wow! How come your parents let you have that much money in your allowance?” The parrot chirped, staring in awe at the crisp $20 bill in the duckling’s hands. “I’m lucky if they let me have any at all!”

Even with his arm in a sling, Mark looked downright cheerful to see another kid on the beach. Perhaps this duckling would want to be his friend! He dashed right over, stumbling once or twice, before he held out his hand enthusiastically. “Hi! I’m Mark! What’s your name?”

“...And that’s why floppy disks are obsolete, even though CD-ROMs are more prone to damages!” He concludes, finally looking at the ducks he started rambling to without so much as an introduction. “Isn’t that neat?”

“You’re not, like... still mad at me about what happened before you left? I just... you haven’t been coming around as much... really, I haven’t seen you at all, all we really had was that phone call. ...And it seemed like even that didn’t go very well.”
