push yourself to get up before the rest of the world - start with 7am, then 6am, then 5:30am. go to the nearest hill with a big coat and a scarf and watch the sun rise.
push yourself to fall asleep earlier - start with 11pm, then 10pm, then 9pm. wake up in the morning feeling re-energized and comfortable.
get into the habit of cooking yourself a beautiful breakfast. fry tomatoes and mushrooms in real butter and garlic, fry an egg, slice up a fresh avocado and squirt way too much lemon on it. sit and eat it and do nothing else.
stretch. start by reaching for the sky as hard as you can, then trying to touch your toes. roll your head. stretch your fingers. stretch everything.
buy a 1L water bottle. start with pushing yourself to drink the whole thing in a day, then try drinking it twice.
buy a beautiful diary and a beautiful black pen. write down everything you do, including dinner dates, appointments, assignments, coffees, what you need to do that day. no detail is too small.
strip your bed of your sheets and empty your underwear draw into the washing machine. put a massive scoop of scented fabric softener in there and wash. make your bed in full.
organise your room. fold all your clothes (and bag what you donāt want), clean your mirror, your laptop, vacuum the floor. light a beautiful candle.
have a luxurious shower with your favourite music playing. wash your hair, scrub your body, brush your teeth. lather your whole body in moisturiser, get familiar with the part between your toes, your inner thighs, the back of your neck.
push yourself to go for a walk. take your headphones, go to the beach and walk. smile at strangers walking the other way and be surprised how many smile back. bring your dog and observe the dogās behaviour. realise you can learn from your dog.
message old friends with personal jokes. reminisce. suggest a catch up soon, even if you donāt follow through. push yourself to follow through.
think long and hard about what interests you. crime? sex? boarding school? long-forgotten romance etiquette? find a book about it and read it. there is a book about literally everything.
become the person you would ideally fall in love with. let cars merge into your lane when driving. pay double for parking tickets and leave a second one in the machine. stick your tongue out at babies. compliment people on their cute clothes. challenge yourself to not ridicule anyone for a whole day. then two. then a week. walk with a straight posture. look people in the eye. ask people about their story. talk to acquaintances so they become friends.
lie in the sunshine. daydream about the life you would lead if failure wasnāt a thing. open your eyes. take small steps to make it happen for you.
Have a good day !
Im not from US but I follow a lot of this story because I'm fan of football. Can you explain what this player sacrificed other than football? I don't mean in rude way, I just don't know what else happened. He was supposed to be signed up with Ravens last football season but his girlfriend missed that up for him? (From websites I've tried to read) he's still making a stand? Yes?
So, I had to consult @brendaonao3ā, my resident Sports Expert, on a few of the points, because I didnāt know much about the GFās tweet, and him losing his contract with the Ravens because if it, and she made a really valid point about that: It was just a fucking excuse.
Think of all the players who have violated the morals clause in their contracts, and still have jobs. How many have beaten their wives/girlfriends. How many have been arrested for seriously insane shit. Hell, even Michael Vick got a spot again, and he was killing dogs.Ā Thereās no reason someone should lose a contract because their girlfriend decides to post some racist shit. It was just the excuse they used to be like, welp *dusts off hands* clearly we canāt sign THAT person, because this outside person who is not him but knows him, said a racist thing about a former player, who once plead guilty for obstruction of justice in the death of two people. That there is a bad seed,Ā and we canāt have him playing on OUR football team, nosiree.
Whatās really going on is that the NFL has blacklisted him and Eric Reid (the second person to take a knee), plain and simple. And they are stillĀ blacklisting them both, despite the fact that other players have taken up the cause. Heās being treated like a pariah for silently, and peacefully, protesting the treatment of black people and people of color in this country, specifically in regards to police brutality. He and Reid are the scapegoats in all of this, you just hear about Kaepernick more because he did it first.
The funny thing is is that it was a former US Green Beret, Nate Boyer, who actually convinced Colin that what was best was to take a knee (as opposed to just sitting out the anthem, which Colin had been doing). Hereās what Boyer said in an interview with NPR:
So I urged him to stand and then take action, because thatās really how change will happen, and he said, āNo, Iām committed to sitting until I feel that things are changing and that weāre moving in the right direction.ā And so through that conversationā¦we agreed on a middle ground of him taking a knee alongside his teammates.
For me, thatās a sign of reverence. You know, people take a knee to say a prayer. And then also, military personnel, itās very common to see an image of a soldier, or a marine, or an airman, or a sailor, take a knee in front of a fallen brother-in-armās grave to pay respects. So I just thought it was better, and it showed more about ā that heās paying attention as well, heās not, in a sense, sitting it out. Heās engaged.
He took the advice of an army vet, and chose to protest in the most respectfulĀ way he could. And yet.
Kaepernick isnāt protesting the loss of his job, but the serious change we need in this country. The fact that the treatment of the entire POC community is off the rails, and people are dying. Also, you have to understand, this isnāt just a job. People who make it into pro sports have spent their livesĀ training to get there, and this isnāt him losing a job, this is him losing a career he worked his whole life towards. All because he wants police brutality to stop. And Nike recognizes that and is standing behind him. Hope that helps.

Nikeās choice to make the erstwhile quarterback Colin Kaepernick a face of their latest campaign isnāt so much a defiant recognition of dissent as an acknowledgment of the directions in which sports culture has travelled.
The advertisement shows a black-and-white image of the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback with text that reads: "Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything."
