Archaeologists in Denmark have found evidence of a 3,000 year-old cooking mistake that casts some light into the everyday life of Scandinavian Bronze Age people.
Clear evidence for one of the most common mistakes in the kitchen ā burning food ā lay in a clay pot that was excavated in central Jutland, Denmark.
The clay vessel was found, upturned and in near mint condition, at the bottom of what was once a waste pit.
āThe pot is typical for cooking vessels in this region of Denmark. It was accompanied by several other objects fitting the dating,ā archaeologist Kaj F. Rasmussen from Museum Silkeborg, Denmark, told Discovery News. Read more.

First off, Belfast was not quite what I expected. I'm not sure if I can exactly articulate what I expected of Belfast, but it wasn't that. I guess I was expecting it to be more violent and much more broken down than it was, but it seemed just like any other city. The main things we did (Emily, Alyssa, Brett, and I) were go to the Titanic museum and go to Giant's Causeway, which was absolutely amazing.
The Titanic museum was really interesting because it talked about the building of the ship, the people who road it, and even the remains of it under the sea. Giant's Causeway is this area of beach that has hexagonal pillars all over that have formed as a result of lava cooling (but the video I watched about it didn't tell me why they were hexagonal as opposed to just lumps, but I'm assuming it has something to do with the molecule shape, but I could be wrong). Anyways, they were really fun to see. On that tour we also went to Bushmills distillery, and I learned that I actually like some whiskey! Surprisingly it wasn't bad and I enjoyed the little bit we got to try. On the Giantās Causeway tour we got to stop at this rope bridge called the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge that is suspended over the water and it mildly terrifying, but was incredibly fun to walk on. In Belfast there is a peace wall that was used to separate the Protestants and the Catholics and prevent any violence between the groups, but on the wall now people have painted murals and wrote encouraging words. It was crazy to see this wall because it is was built so recently and it was just insane to imagine living like that.Ā
This was my last trip with Emily and Alyssa and it was a good last one, but it is sad that we won't be going on any more trips together, at least for a while.
After this trip we got back and Emily and I had our last final 4 days later, so we were frantically studying and freaking out because the test was worth 90% of our grade and we didn't know what to expect or really how to study for it. Luckily what we did study worked well because we left feeling like we knew the topics and were able to (hopefully) do well. After the final we all went to the College Bar (it's a bar that is on campus, which is new to me and a lot of fun) and had a pint in celebration of finishing this school year!
So overall, Belfast was interesting and informative and I am very happy to be done with classes and not have to worry about it at all anymore.
Yesterday I had a friend tell me how one of her close friends has a whole bunch of succulents, and she has given each one the name of her close friends. She nurses them, takes care of them, talks to them, and if one ever starts to get sick or not grow well, she talks to the friend in question and something is almost always bothering them.
And if that isnāt one of the cutest examples of subtle green witchcraft I donāt know what is.

My buddy read an article about octopus intelligence. It was feeding time, and the handler dumped some shrimp into an octopusā tank. Then he went into another room and sat at his desk.
A while later, a shrimp was tossed onto his desk.
The octopus, upon finding one bad shrimp in the lot, had grabbed it, escaped its tank, crossed the hall, and threw the expired shrimp at its caretaker. Not only does this showcase their problem-solving capabilities, but also that it could have escaped at any time. It just broke out this time to chuck an off shrimp in indignation at its handler. Thatās not just intelligence, thatās a human-like reaction. Kinda make you wonder exactly how smart these guys can beā¦
I went to the aquarium once and we had a tour and we walked past the octopus tank and it was duct taped shut so I asked why and the guy was like. āWell, we had a problem before because these fish were disappearing randomly at night and we had no idea why. Turns out the octopus had memorised the night guards rounds and would creep out of its tank, crawl across the floor to the fish tank, have a little snack and be back in its own tank with the lid shut before the guard came back.ā they are super smart
Once I went to the aquarium where they had a baby pacific red octopus in a tank. I had gone there to work on a few real life sketches, obviously I wanted to do one of an octopus. So I kinda just kneeled in front of the tank, and started sketching. The octopus didnāt mind, he sat happily. Then, 5 minutes later, he started moving to the front of the tank, where I was. This tiny octopus faces me directly and starts posing. I donāt know how other to explain it but he started curlung his tentacles in this really graceful way then wouldnāt move for a few minutes. Then again, a new pose. That tiny cute motherfucker knew I was drawing him.
