Things to keep in mind:
Language: English is not my native language (not even my second one), but I can speak it (pretty) fluently. I also know French, though I’m better at understanding it than speaking/writing it (read: please don't ask me to speak French). I'm bilingual, which means that I have two languages that I speak since birth. I'm keeping these two undisclosed (please be respectful about that). I can also read, understand and translate Latin and Ancient Greek, though because I’m still learning (have been for the past 6 years), please don't expect some crazy knowledge from me (especially because I can only translate them to my mother tongue😅)
As you already probably noticed I have a bit of a rambling problem, but I also have a bit of a procrastination and a social anxiety (and anxiety in general) problem (yes, even online, it’s actually even worse online). So if the blog looks dead you know what's up (I'm totally not having a mental breakdown, contemplating deleting everything from the internet, what are you talking about? ……)
I'm very bad at everything digital, so if anything looks weird it's probably my fault, not yours. I'm also very slow at replying, updating and posting and yeah… I'm sorry? (Please have mercy, I have no idea how any of this works).

I've really been in a barrel-appreciating mood, let's talk about the history of barrels
barrels have existed since Mesopotamia, ~3000 BCE, but those were primarily made of clay. but the barrels we know and love are estimated to date back to the Celts, 350 BCE
it was a very useful invention, much more durable than a clay pot, reusable, and a good way to transport and store liquids and dry goods
but honestly I'm mostly a fan because of the design
god. damn.
the gorgeous grain of the wood, the metal bevel, the beautiful cascade of different shades of brown. and that's not even to mention what might be inside.
and I know this is just a barrel, and perhaps I'm a bit too into it. but the absolute perfect construction, to make planks of wood reliably contain a liquid, I think it's really cool.
now, we get to talk about Donkey Kong :)
pretty big jumps in history, but now we are looking at 1981, common era!
this game was Nintendo's breakthrough into the US arcane scene. Donkey Kong himself was designed by Shigeru Miyamoto, taking inspiration from both Popeye and King Kong.
I love Donkey Kong a lot, especially DK Jungle Beat. this is one of my favorite games of all time, released in 2004-2005!
