This may be an attempt to combat diet culture, but it's still steeped in diet culture.

All food contains nutrients.

Protein, carbs, and fat are nutrients. Desserts contain at least one of them, and usually all three. Getting enough of them is actually very important. You'll get sick faster from insufficient macronutrients than you will from a micronutrient deficiency - and without enough macronutrients, your body won't be able to use the micronutrients you ingest.

On top of that, desserts also contain micronutrients, unless they're a type of candy that's literally made only out of sugar. (I'm trying to be very careful about this wording because I don't mean the moralizing statement "this is pure sugar," which is usually not actually accurate.)

We evolved to like food that tastes good because we actually need the things it contains. And sure, you'll get sick if you eat literally nothing but cookies for a long time... but you'll get sick faster if you eat nothing but kale.

Sincerely, someone who nearly died from a restrictive eating disorder.
