Good Omens Easter eggs/easily missed moments , Ep. 2
1. During the scene when Gabriel & Sandalphon come to see Aziraphale, you can see a collection of Terry Pratchett books in Aziraphaleâs shop (bottom left).
2. Crowley has The Maltese Falcon in his flat.
3. He also has an original sketch of the Mona Lisa, which is explained in the book:
The only wall decoration was a framed drawing-the cartoon for the Mona Lisa, Leonardo da Vinciâs original sketch. Crowley had bought it from the artist one hot afternoon in Florence, and felt it was superior to the final painting.
Also, on the TV is Konnie Huq, who if youâre not from the UK you may not recognise, but may know for co-writing the âFifteen Million Meritsâ episode of Black Mirror, with her husband Charlie Brooker.
4. Probably not an actual Easter egg but this really reminded me of MC Esherâs âHand with Reflecting Sphereâ.
5. The prediction Anathema is discussing with her mother is about everyoneâs journey to Tadfield at the end of the story:
âFour shalle rydeâ = The Four Horsepersons of the Apocalypse
âThree sharl ryde the Skye [another Skye reference] as twoâ = Shadwell, Madame Tracey and discorporated Aziraphale flying on the scooter
âWonne shal ryde in flamesâ = Crowley in the Bentley
Also the part about fish not being able to stop them refers to the part in the book where it literally rains fish, also referenced in the opening credits!
6. A bit tricky to show in a screencap, but as the camera pans in on Young Newt it hits his window frame, a lovely clue to just how inept he is with electronics!
7. The job we see Newt immediately fired from is with the same company, United Worldwide Holdings (Holdings), we see later at Tadfield Manor playing paintball (the team building exercise theyâre discussing here). This might not be easily missed, but I didnât clock it at first!
8. Newtâs tie is the pattern of the 4th Doctorâs scarf.
9. The adverts surrounding the one to join the WA are all cute Easter eggs, including one for âUncle Terryâs missing hatâ & a lost copy of The Colour of Magic!
10. Not really easily missed, I just really liked that their personalities are easily gleaned from how they approach Tadfield Manor. Aziraphale, being an angel, follows the path, Crowley, being a demon, just walks saunters across the grass.
11. Crowleyâs glaring at his car to fix the dents & scratches, a moment I loved in the book:
Crowley glared at a long metallic streak on the Bentleyâs glossy paintwork and a dimple in the bumper. The dimple popped back into shape. The paint healed.
12. The new bike rack that Aziraphale adds has tartan accents, to match his bow-tie (& flask later)!
13. Not very easily missed but I love that Crowley & Aziraphale continuously go to eat together for Crowley to just sit there, possibly drinking, while only Aziraphale eats.
14. Right down at the bottom of the page you can read âUrsula Shiptonâ (she is also mentioned earlier in the episode. Mother Shipton was a âreal-life prophetâ from Yorkshire.
15. All the prophecies that appear on screen are key later on in the story, for instance, the prophecy in the top right of this screencap is about Crowley and Aziraphale waiting for the hellhound to arrive at Warlockâs party.
