ok one thing i will never understand is how in 2026, when someone has had bad experiences, that person talking about their life is inherently considered „trauma dumping”. i don’t get it, we have this mentality that people should be more open about their feelings, but we continuously make them feel less and less safe to talk about them in an unfiltered way. you can’t just ban a group of people from sharing their past just because it can be ugly or uncomfortable to hear. that’s not fair

call me crazy but most things people call „oversharing” these days are just. normal things? i mean yeah, it’s sad to hear that your friend had a terrible experience, but to them it’s a thing that happened. it’s another experience. am i making any sense here?

like. recently a friend reached out to us for help, and she really needs it. and she continuously just kept apologizing for wanting our attention or being a burden. love. you will be a burden sometimes. you will be sad sometimes. and that is perfectly fine. you’re not here to be perfect all the time, you’re just a human being.

i think that ultimately, all this ties into this weird perspective gen Z has adopted of not wanting to feel any ounce of Slightly Uncomfortable EVER, which just leads to such incredibly shallow relationships…

i do agree that traumadumping exists, it’s just not at all what people make it out to be. it’s like some people just want an excuse to not be there for their friends. sharing a personal moment with a friend, or exchanging life stories on a sleepover, or even them casually mentioning it ≠ crossing your boundaries and continuously dumping really heavy stuff on you without asking first, and leaving you zero room to talk about your own struggles. it’s usually not done on purpose either, but THAT is what i’d consider a toxic behaviour. not a basic display of trust and intimacy

pro tip but if you feel like you're rotting and wasting time doing nothing at least do it outside. trust me. just go outside. take depression walks. literally do nothing, like you would in your bed, but outside. i swear it makes a difference. especially if you're by a body of water

sometimes you’ll sit in the grass and see two squirrels or find a cool tree to climb and as silly as it sounds, those simple moments can really help you
