Gave another trans person his first nebido shot today, went great, and went over best injection practices etc. What disturbed me is that I was far from the first person asked and no one else was willing and capable.
We need to be doing better as a community. Even if you don't inject HRT, learn how and help others. We're systematically being stripped of the limited legal access to hormones we have, and while the risks to DIY are overblown to scare us away from transition it's not without any risk at all! Especially the first time.
If your friend tells you they're too scared to do the first T or E shot, you should be in a position to say come on over and I'll do it with you! If they need a glute shot, get over yourself that you'll see the top of your friend's ass and do it!
I have probably given a couple dozen people shots in the last few years. Do it for your community, yes, but if you need a selfish reason then I can give you one: it feels fucking amazing when you see them flourishing later with all the changes they wanted and you know you had a part.
