Every post about hating ads frames it like Google invented advertising in 2010. And like half the time it’s written by someone who should definitely remember the 90s better than I do

Even like. Print media? I don’t think Hi-Lights and American Girl magazine (which we paid for!) were telling me about new books and toys out of the goodness of their heart. And a lot books would include entire sections on new books you should buy, a trend I’ve actually been seeing *less* of in published books!
