"Why I'm pissed at people who are mad that Frankie (Knights of Guinevere) is canonicaly cis"
So hello it'll be a loooong yap so I won't be surprised that people won't read that but I already was complaining with my bf about it and I need to complain further. Without further ado, let me explain.
1. "The creator is transphobic for that!"
First of all, the creator is Dana Terrace. THE Dana Terrace, creator of The Owl House. And if it comes to Dana Terrace, she's known for making a series with lots of canon LGBTQ+ characters. Not only that, but she also created Raine, a nonbinary character that, in my opinion, is portrayed very well. Why? Because they're not portrayed as a weak, struggling etc. person because of their identity, but as a person who just so happens to be nonbinary. Is being trans hard? Are there struggles and problems that comes with that? Of course it is. But in a great majority of movies and series, when there is a trans character, their person is mostly centered about this struggle. I personally love, when there's a trans character that is actually a person, that just so happens to be trans, and their struggle is shown slightly, discreetly and naturally, without covering the rest of their person (like Raul from Wendell and Wild). So if Dana Terrace would make a character canonically cis, it's not because she's "transphobic" (because she's well damn capable of making a trans character), but because she just made one for no particular reason. But now, coming to the next point,
2. "She's forbidding people of headcanoning Frankie as a trans woman!"
When I heard that, I had to hold my head for a moment. First of all, Dana said a lot of times, that she doesn't mind headcanons and actually like them. Second of all, she NEVER said, that just because Frankie is cis, you cannot headcanon her as trans. And third of all, since when canon info forbid people of making headcanons? Headcanons are LITERALLY made to alter canon. Just because something is canon never stopped people of making headcanons. And now, to my personal opinions,
Think about it. There's three (four if we count Guinevere but she's a machine) main-focus female characters: Frankie, Andi and Olivia. And yet, people are furious that Frankie was the one confirmed as cis. The only "masc", plus size, physically stronger woman. Even IF Frankie is canonically cis, it doesn't mean that maybe Andi could be canonically trans? But people don't talk about it. They're mad, that the currently only "manly woman" is not trans. I feel, that this is kinda... Backhanded? Like they're trying to say, that every "masc woman" is trans. As if they portray every trans woman as manly. Why can't we have a thinner, physically weaker character as a trans woman, and a bigger, stronger woman as cis? Especially that there's very little representation of strong, bigger women who are not brute, agressive etc.
In the end of the day, it's just my opinion and observation. Some people look at it with normal view, other people rage, other don't care, I personally think that it's not a problem and actual transphobic people are the ones that demand every masc woman being trans. But it's just me, my opinion and my view. Either way, trans Andi and butch Frankie supremacy
