mina: (marries jonathan as soon as possible when he recovers)

mina: (mourns lucy because her best friend was turned by dracula and needed to be mercy-killed by her friends)

mina: (joins the crew of van helsing and the drac hunting gang to stop dracula after he killed her best friend and kidnapped and traumatized her husband until they decide she is best kept out of the ordeal)

mina: (gets fed on and turned by dracula in what is very clearly a metaphor for rape)

mina: (is threatened into silence and forcefully penetrated and forced to ingest dracula's body fluids down her throat)

mina: (is quite literally scarred and is reminded of her ordeal whenever she sees the mark of how "unclean" she is)

mina: (breaks down in hysterics after she is rejected by god for being "unclean")

mina: (does everything in her power to take what dracula forced upon her and use it to help her husband and friends kill him)

mina: (turns her telepathic bond with dracula against him to spy on him)

mina: (ends the story by helping to kill her assailant and getting her happily ever after ending in peace with her husband)

There is literally zero reason for there to be a romance between Mina and Dracula because she and Jonathan already have some insane ass chemistry together. Like, they're so entwined and in love with each other, it is sickening. All those moments where Mina begs Jonathan to kill her if she ever turns into a vampire and he can't even bring himself to say yes ??? How he says he'll become just like her because he cannot bear to part from her, even if their souls are damned forever ???

Mina learns the time tables of fucking trains just to help Jonathan, and Jonathan writes in his journal in a language he knows Mina can understand. They understand each other and LOVE one another in such a beautiful way. They rely on each other, they protect one another, and they do things for the safety of their love.

Jonathan isn't that oppressive of a man either, like, he fr just lets Mina do her thing, if there's anyone who tends to restrict Mina, it's Van Helsing, and even then, said restrictions are usually revoked because Mina is SOSOSOSO important to the events of the novel, especially in the latter half of the novel.

Bro, I'd rather take a man who is willing to sacrifice everything he is for me, rather than some jackshit who just wants me to be like him, booooooo. BOOOOOOO

Dracula in the original novel ain't even all that. Why did we just let mainstream pop culture depict him as this suave, brooding man when he literally has to drive his own car (carriage) ? Bro is a loser.
