Not every persecutor is someone misguided or a little upset and lashing out. Sometimes they are lashing out, but it's because they've been genuinely abused by other system members and are defending themselves. Other times it's just them doing it for fun or because they want to. Or they like seeing people suffer/in pain. Treating all of these the same isn't really helpful, and neither is acting like persecutor just means "is a little rude online" or "types in a serious way".¹

Some persecutors do horrible things to others, feel no guilt or remorse, fully believe they're in the right (yet not "helping" the system), and have no interest in changing. Past persecutors in our system were not attacking others because they were misguided, they did it because they enjoyed watching people suffer. The person who rapes, kills, or tortures others just because they wanted to and feels no remorse cannot be handled the same way as a persecutor who genuinely believes they're protecting the collective.

There are ways to let them express violent urges in safe ways, but whether or not they accept is up to them. You can't force someone to stop hurting others unless you keep them away from anyone else, and then they might hurt themselves.

So there's the issue of treating all persecutors like misguided people who just want to help or are just a bit mean/rude. There's also the issue of treating all persecutors like rabid animals just because they're persecutors. People will see that word on a profile, signoff, etc. and suddenly you're subhuman and it's fine to treat you badly for it. It's fine to ignore you in conversations, say how uncomfortable you being there makes them, etc. even if you're not doing anything "bad" at all.² No wonder some persecutors will end up hating people outside the system the most, if that's how they're treated.

Now, if we want to actually communicate "hey, this person acts out in pretty serious ways, even if they seem "nice" or not like a typical persecutor" we have to use words that either detail the kind of harm they do, or their motivations (or lack thereof) behind it. Just for people to recognize that this person isn't a misguided protector or has maladaptive coping mechanisms. And then there's still the problem of dehumanization. So you're kind of fucked.
