spacewaffles s6 feels so weird cause even in planets consistent outward expressions of weakness—a self-assured, confident admission of his now dwindled PvP skill—there’s always this need to assert himself over bacon.
in their first s6 stream together bacon is obviously aware of their newfound gap in skill, commenting on how if they ever run into a 2v4 planet would be one picking up the slack. It’s meant to be compliment, a show of trust in planets skill despite how much they advise otherwise. instead of taking it kindly, planet crudely remarks that if they got jumped, he would’ve been able to fend off the attackers had bacon not been there. this attitude seems entirely removed from the shared position of bottom rung these two operated on back in s4—where there had not been a need to categorize skill because even the strongest of them were the weakest of the server. and yet, even after s5 concludes and planet slots perfectly into the unassuming character he adopted back in s4 things are different. it’s not like players don’t member the type of person planet used to be back in s5, so even despite preforming similarly to s4, there’s this image of himself planet is constantly having to correct.
yes he was strong in s5, but he’s not really doing that whole PvP thing anymore. and this repetitive correction leads to planet adopting this sort of self deprecating perception where he even begins to underestimate his own skill. and it’s not even done in any typical way you’d imagine. he’s happy with his skill—unlike players like Mapicc who detest any show of physical weakness—entirely unbothered every-time he has to remind someone that he really isn’t good at PvP like that anymore. and yet, there seems to be one person planet refuses to be below—bacon.
planet is okay with being weak, as long as he’s not weaker than bacon. even on 3 hearts planet is profoundly surprised by bacon’s confident claim of an easy victory if the two were to fight and even pushes—despite bacon clearly not being equally as invested—for the fight to actually happen. and it does and planet wins. but not before some out of character mid fight trash talk about bacon thinking it was going to be easy and that it was clear the fight was only going on for so long because planet was low on hearts. even worse, bacon backs down right before the kill—begging planet to spare him because he’s already surrendered and he’s won and it can be over now—and yet planet kills him away. pressing harder and harder at the bruise that is their obvious skill gap, and even sweetly remarking that if it had mattered to bacon so much he would have let him win.
it’s clear planet lovingly sees himself as bacons protector, a provider, even despite being absent half the season.
he can’t understand why the things he does hurts bacon so deeply, and is even more confused when his attempts to rectify this hurt just serve to make it worse. whether he understands his need to be perceived as stronger than bacon or not is really up to interpretation, but if he does and does All This Shit anyway I really do have to update my perception of planet again. Fuckkk😭😭😭
