We all brace ourselves.  A long bus ride?  How long?  We’re Americans; a long bus ride for us is a minimum of six hours with the double digits perfectly plausible.  We can handle a twelve hour bus ride as long as we get a bathroom break.

The answer.  “Two hours.”

Hey guys, so I’ve been informed by someone who attended Jack’s Dallas show that there was someone in the crowd outside the Venue who was selling T-shirts with fanart on them. Apparently the person selling them got them from a friend who screen prints clothing, and who simply finds art they like online and makes clothing out of them. My drawing was in the seller’s box of t-shirts.

This possibly means that other artists from Jack’s community could be having their art printed on t-shirts and being sold outside his shows. The person who informed me of this also said that the t-shirt seller was handing out cards containing their etsy shop name/link. 

Please keep a lookout for this person, or people selling ‘fanart’ t-shirts; if you can, take one of the cards if they’re handing them out and keep them. If I can find their etsy shop, I can report them; maybe then they’ll stop making clothing with stolen art.

the police didnt show up for 3 days.

when they did, they told us there was nothing the could do because we “staged the house”. they claimed we hid our tv’s and valuables to make it look like more was actually stolen. they never asked for a description, never visited the neighbor who saw the break-in, anf as they left, they told us that stolen property is almost never recovered and we should “buy more and get on with [our] lives”.

when I was 23, I was dog-sitting for a (white) friend. her neighbor called the police and said there was a strange black man in her yard.

the police showed up in 5 minutes.

6 units, 12 officers, stormed the back yard as I was running around with the dog. some came through the house and I know for a fact that the front door was locked. they damaged around $5000 worth of property, took her dog to the pound, and me to jail.

my friend had to cut her trip short and drive 4 hours back to get me from jail and explain to police in person that she knew me. because “that could be anybody on the phone”. the neighbor was with her when she came. we had met several times before. she was neither embarrassed nor apologetic.

moral of the story?

first of all we’ve got these four talented and racially diverse ladies with healthy body types singing and dancing to songs about female friendships 

and empowering women

they literally have a song called “cinderella” about not needing a man

and in the movie sequels they travel to spain and india 

where supporting characters have actual character arcs and aren’t just “cultural decoration”

oh look bilingual songs

it doesn’t hurt that the whitney houston produced the first two movies
