Organized Mods Folder

I'm currently cleaning out and reorganizing my Mods folder, and while doing that I made a separate folder for every creator I currently have CC from.

Over the years I've seen so many people in the community say they don't know where to start, don't have the patience, or just haven't gotten around to it. So, I thought I'd share my folder setup to hopefully make the process a little easier for anyone who needs it!

A quick note: There is NO CC included in these folders (I know that seems obvious, but I wanted to mention it anyway!). This download only includes the creator folders.

I've also labeled the creators whose mods require updates after game patches.

All you have to do is: ✨ Drag the folders into your Mods folder. ✨ Move each creator's CC into its matching folder.

Since there are thousands of amazing CC creators, not every creator is included. If you're missing one, simply create a new folder and add it.

Hello Everyone!

I’ve seen quite some people struggle to sort their CC. After giving tips and solutions I thought why not make an empty mods folder! This means there is NO CC inside this folder. You’ll have to put all your cc in the folders. 3 Versions: Cas Only Build Buy Only Merged

You can download this empty mods folder and extract it into your “The Sims 4″ folder. If you don’t know how, follow this: Documents -> Electronic Arts -> The Sims 4 -> Drop mods folder here. Run the game with the empty mods folder FIRST before adding any cc to it.

A bit of info on Build/Buy: I’ve sorted the folder as to how it is in the game. Everything is sorted it by “Objects By Function” instead of by each room. Download: SimFileShare || No Ads || CAS Only SimFileShare || No Ads || Build/Buy Only SimFileShare || No Ads || MERGED F.A.Q below the cut

Composition Method 0 is used to make textures look AS IS in game. There is no blending. It’s like a fully opaque normal layer in photoshop.

Composition Method 0 is best for fully opaque alpha skins. In order to layer makeup over an alpha skin, all makeup must also be composition 0. Any other composition method will not layer over composition 0!

Composition 0 makeup may pixelate on default + overlay skins. Default and overlays are set to composition method 3. The reason for these blocky pixels is unknown. The pixels mainly occur with semi-transparent textures, such as blushes, eyeshadows, and highlights. 

In some cases, it’s possible to reduce pixelation by avoiding the layering of multiple composition 0 makeup. This will not always work! It mainly works for more opaque textures, such as tattoos. Look at EA’s facepaints. They are set at a composition method of 0. They do not pixelate, because they are fully opaque.

To avoid pixelation entirely, you can switch the composition method to 4. However, this WILL blow out the colors, and change the blend. I recommend staying away from white and pastels. Darkening your textures will help them to blend better into all skin-tones.

Composition 3 is used to make overlays. These are grey-scale textures that blend into default and overlay skins. This method is useful for skin details such as face shaders.

Sort Order is the order in which textures layer. The sort order of most overlay skins is set to 2200. In order for overlays to layer over other overlays, you must pay attention to the sort order! For example:

Skin - 2200

Face Shader - 2250 ( will layer OVER skin )

Moles - 2255 ( will layer OVER skin and face shaders )

hiii !! honestly, achieving a maxis yet realistic skin base can be done without even using the color slider mod. 〜 i personally don't use the color slider mod because nearly all of my skin details use composition method 3, meaning they blend with the skin color and therefore are incompatible with sliders. with that, it all comes down to how you layer your cc

inspired by wooldawn. i always use this to kick off skin layering before i go ham + flicks of a tweaked blend i like to use of esotericas' piltover skin ↘

・ forehead crease: i almost always start with picking out a thisisthem alpha overlay! this plays a huge role in adding 'realism' by establishing values, creating imperfect textures, and subtle features. ⟢ sort layer 1800 ・ mouth crease: i apply some kind of skin blend to smoothen/matten out harsh details (usually shadows) to provide a subtle maxis feel. ⟢ sort layer 2300 ⤷ some cc recs: mocha | miiko kit #1 | miiko kit #2
