An Answered Call
Pairing: Gert x Chase
Word Count: 2k
Warnings: SPOILERS for Episode 8 below!! Heart-Exploding Fluff.
A/N: Finally! Here is my fic inspired by episode 8. I didn’t feel like we got enough GertxChase so here’s 2,000 words of GertxChase fluffy fluff. I’m going to say sorry in advance for your hearts. Also, I’m thinking about doing a part two so let me know if you want that! Hope you enjoy!
Summary: After Chase’s father is hurt and no one will let him see him, a drunken Chase decides to call his favorite purple-haired girl over to his house.
Chase sat in his bedroom with a bottle of whiskey in one hand and his phone in the other. He couldn’t explain the sudden need for someone but he needed them. He was scared. Scared about the fate of his father, scared that the people who raised him were murders, scared that the only people taking care of his dying father were also murders, and on top of it all he wasn’t allowed to be in the room.
He took another swig of the bitter tasting liquid. It burned as in went down his throat. He didn’t mind. It helped take the edge off. He swiped through his contacts, never hesitating on the people he used to call friends. They couldn’t help him with this. He swiped more and paused when purple caught his eye. Gert.He bit his lip. He couldn’t explain this either but something in his stomach tugged at him. He pressed “call.” Putting the phone up to his ear, he listened to the ringing tone. He silently begged for Gert to pick up. He wanted someone. He needed her.
“Chase?” He heard the familiar voice on the other line. He breathed a sigh of relief. “What’s up?”
“Okay, so… This is going to sound weird but I need you to come to my house but not through the front door if you know what I mean.”
Gert smiled to herself on the other side of the line. She knew exactly what he meant. “Sure, but can I ask –”
“Okay! Thanks, Gert! See you in a bit! Bye!” Chase quickly ended the call.
Gert frowned. He seemed nervous. She quickly wondered if he was in danger. Gert looked up from her phone to the giant dinosaur sitting in her bedroom. She was almost as awkward as Gert as she tried it figure out a way to sit. Gert bit her lip but said, “Come on, Old Lace. We’ve got a cute boy to rescue.”
Within a couple minutes, the pair pulled up to the Stein residence, which was huge. Old Lace, who was packed tightly in the backseat, nudged Gert’s shoulder. Gert pulled the blanket from over the dinosaur’s head, petting her affectionately. “Come on, girl.” She said.
Gert has successfully unlocked the door to Chase’s back yard. This was a trick she had learned back in the eighth grade. “It was purely for school work,” she told Old Lace after the dinosaur had given her a confused look. Gert soon discovered there was a bit of an issue with bringing your prehistoric pet on a rescue mission: she couldn’t fit through the damn door. Through her telepathic link, Gert managed to guide Old Lace over the Stein’s roof.
The noise broke Chase out of his rage. Currently, he had Frank Dean’s shirt crumpled in his fists, telling him how he could simply “drop him” and get to his dad. Chase had become increasingly intoxicated and impatient as he waited for Gert. He wanted to know what was going on. He wanted answers now. He and Frank jumped as a loud thumping was heard from overhead. Luckily, Chase turned to see, clear as day through his living room made of windows, the purple haired girl and her pet dinosaur before Frank did.
“Uhhh, Frank, you know what?” Chase asked, calling the man’s attention. “Why don’t I just go back upstairs? I’m sure everything is fine. You adults should have it handled.”
Frank looked confused but also relieved as Chase released him from his angry grasp. Frank looked over to whatever had caught Chase’s eye. He shrugged as he admired the Stein’s garden. He simply went back to guard duty as Chase climbed the stairs to his room.
Chase breathed a sigh of relief as he closed his bedroom door. He leaned against the nearest wall. “This night has been so weird.”
Suddenly, he heard a rumble from his bathroom. He grabbed the nearest suitable weapon, a lacrosse stick. “Gert?” He called out in a cautious tone. Next thing he knew a huge dinosaur was in his room. He jumped back in fear. A flash of purple caught his eye. “Gert, watch out! He called.
Gert stood next to Old Lace, calmly petting her. “Chase, chill out. She listens to me and protects me, which means, if I say, she protects all of us.” She explained, admiring her pet. She took in the image of the frighten cute boy that she had come to rescue. She giggled to herself at the sight of him. “Also, lacrosse sticks are not the cure-all for everything.”
Chase looked at her, then to Old Lace, then to the stick in his hand. He couldn’t believe the night he was having. She wasn’t the first cute girl he brought to his room but she was the first with a pet dinosaur. He reached out towards Old Lace, testing the waters.
A low grumble sound was all she had to make for Chase to put his hand down.
“Yeah,” Gert sighed. “Maybe leave the touching to me.”
Gert sat on Chase’s bed as he paced back and forth. As Chase told Gert exactly what was going on with their parents, she noticed he kept taking swigs from his bottle of whiskey. He would explain something stressful and take a swig. His mom shot his dad. Drink. He doesn’t want his dad to die despite his father’s abuse. Drink. He doesn’t trust the people in charge of taking care of his dad. Drink. Who is the Jonah guy anyway?
“Chase!” Gert yelled, causing Chase to pause with the bottle at his lips. “Maybe slow it down a bit there, bud.”
He looked from her to the bottle in his hands. It was nearly empty. He noticed his wooziness now, feeling lightheaded. He decided to power through, not letting Gert know how it was affecting him. “You have to admit it, Gert, something suspicious is going on.”
Gert stood up from Chase’s bed, causing Old Lace to look up from the spot where she was laying on the floor. Gert shot her a comforting look and she went back to sleeping. She grabbed Chase’s hand, pulling him to sit on his bed.
“Chase,” she said. She was very aware that she was still holding his hand and it was making her heart flutter. The boy didn’t seem to notice or mind. “Our parents are sacrificing kids; obviously, weird things are going on. I promise we will get to the bottom of that. But for tonight, maybe we should just forget about that for a second. Be kids, you know? You are not going to get answers about your dad tonight but I’m sure Pride won’t let their resident genius die.”
Chase looked into Gert’s eyes, giving her that puppy-dog look. He didn’t realize he was doing it. It came by instinct and Gert hated it. Her cheeks felt hot and she became worried about her hands becoming too clammy.
Suddenly, Chase got up from his bed, crossing the room. Old Lace looked at him suspiciously and then looked at Gert. I don’t know what he’s doing but he’s a friend, girl. We don’t hurt friends. She thought, hoping that the dinosaur could hear her. That’s how telepathic links work, right? It seemed so as Old Lace slumped back down on the floor, acting like she was upset she didn’t get to hurt anyone today.
Gert jumped at the sound of music playing. She turned to see a hand held out towards her. She followed up the arm to Chase’s face. She rose an eyebrow at him. He smiled at her, still holding out his hand. “Come on, Gert.”
“What are you doing?” Gert looked at him over her glasses.
“You’re the one who said let’s be kids. Dance with me.” Chase wiggled his hand in front of her, expecting her to take it.
She laughed, rolling her eyes. “You, sir, are very drunk.”
“Oh my god, Gert,” Chase rolled his eyes. He grabbed both her hands, pulling her off his bed.
Gert stood there awkwardly with Chase holding her hands. She was at a loss as what to do. Were her dreams actually coming true? She had a crush on Chase for so long and he never really paid attention to her. Now, she was standing in his bedroom, holding hands with him as a slow indie song play in the background. This seemed like some weird dream.
Chase felt her hesitation. He took her hands and placed them around his neck. He encircled her waist with his own hands, pulling her closer. “Now,” he said. “We sway.”
There were a couple minutes of silence. Gert was biting her lip, avoiding Chase’s eyes. She could feel him staring at her. She began to feel incredibly warm. She couldn’t help but wonder what to make of all this. She was slow dancing with Chase Stein for no apparent reason other than he wanted to.
Her mind went back to the gala when she successfully created a diversion by flirting. She remembered the bodyguard asking about her boyfriend. In that moment, her mind went to Chase but he wasn’t hers. Then, she remembered him saying she could have anyone she wanted. Hell, maybe that guy was right.
She looked at Chase, who was smiling and enjoying the music. “Chase,” she said, calling his attention. “Why did you call me first?”
Chase shrugged. “It felt right?” He offered her an answer.
“But why not Karolina? I know you guys kissed… at the gala.” She poked further, searching his face for any tells.
Chase sighed. Regular Chase might’ve not said anything but this was Buzzed Chase. Buzzed Chase was way more upfront than Regular Chase. “Something with Karolina was off. Like I thought she would be the girl of my dreams, you know? Beautiful, smart, kind… But I kissed her and I thought I would feel something –”
“Like fireworks?” Gert interrupted.
“Yeah! Like that!” Chase nodded. “But I kissed her and there was nothing. I was like ‘this isn’t how it’s supposed to be. I was thinking back like ‘who makes me feel like I’m supposed to? Who gives me butterflies?’” Chase paused.
Gert was anxious to hear the answers to Chase’s questions. She almost didn’t notice they weren’t swaying anymore. It was just her and Chase, closer than they had ever been, both physically and emotionally. She didn’t feel nervous anymore about the closeness. Chase wasn’t just her crush anymore. He was her friend.
Chase swallowed. He began to feel nervous. Gert was looking at him expectantly. Everything he wanted to say was on the tip of his tongue, right there, about to burst out. He wanted to kiss her in that moment. She never looked more beautiful to him than in that moment with the moonlight in her hair and love in her eyes.
He took a breath. “I thought about who I really felt that kind of feeling with, who I really felt that… love with… And all I could think of was you, Gert. You were the only person I got butterflies from, who made me kind of nervous when you were around. You don’t take anyone’s shit and you care about people, even dicks like me. You are smart and maybe a little too sarcastic at times but in a cute kind of way and –”
Gert pulled Chase closer with her arms around his neck. She pressed her lips to his, stopping his train of thought. She couldn’t contain it any longer. Chase was practically confessing his love for her right there. They kissed for what seemed like an infinity. Gert felt like her heart was going to burst. Her stomach felt like it was going to fly into her throat. She felt herself heat up from her own body and Chase’s. Once they finally broke, their faces remained inches from each other. They both breathed heavily.
“Did you feel it too?” Gert finally asked, breaking the silence.
Chase smirked at her. “Is it the Fourth of July?”

Hi! What software do you use to create your minamilist collages you do for the characters. Is there a template online? Thanks!
Hi! I just use photoshop but I make sure that the background it’s at least 500px because that’s how wide the tumblr posts are so I’m sure you could use an online program with that in mind.

I Could Get Used To This (Part 2)
Request: insanity-keeps-things-fun requested: This is amazing.I know this could be a lot to ask but, is it possible for you to write a sequel for this about them waking up together? (Thanks so much girlie for requesting!)
Pairing: Gert x Chase
Word Count: 1.3k
Warnings: Cheesy Fluff (which I love)
A/N: Read Part 1 here! I was secretly hoping to do a second part to this. I freakin love Gert x Chase!! Here is your Gert x Chase present for Christmas!
Summary: After Chase spent the night, he decides to make Gert breakfast. It doesn’t go according to plan.
Gert slowly opened her eyes as the sunlight broke into her room. She reached for her glasses, putting them on so her world would come back into focus. Everything that had happened the previous night came back to her. Her stomach did flips as she remembered Chase wrapping his arm around her. She wished that she could have that every night. She turned to check behind her. She frowned when Chase wasn’t there. Where could he have gone? She threw the blankets off her and put on her slippers. She saw his shoes were placed by her bedroom door. She furrowed her brows. What is he doing?
Then she smelled something coming from the kitchen. She became worried, rushing down the stairs. She bounded into the kitchen to see the tall boy in front of the stove. She heard his whispered curses as he jumped back from the stove, probably burning himself. Gert realized that Chase may be able to create fistigons but breakfast not so much. She stifled a laugh, leaning against the entrance to the kitchen.

Galaxy on Her Skin
Pairing: Karolina Dean x Reader
Word Count: 1.4k
A/N: Hope you enjoy!
Summary: You and Karolina have been friends for a long time. You’ve also been crushing on her for a long time. You never thought you could reveal your feelings until on day Karolina decides to reveal her powers to you.
“Hey, Y/N!”
You felt your heart skip a beat as you hear Karolina’s voice calling your name. You turn to see one of your closest friends striding towards you. She looked beautiful with her long blonde hair flowing in the wind. She smiled brightly at you, tucking a lock behind her ear. You felt your chest get tight. There was something special about Karolina that you couldn’t quite put your finger on. She had a heart of gold and was always so supportive of you. Your friendship developed quickly and your crush on her developed even quicker.
However, you couldn’t tell if Karolina reciprocated your feelings either. There had been times where you could’ve sworn there was something there… the way she played with your hair, the lingering hugs, or the way that your hands made slight but very obvious contact as you walked the halls of your school. It was like you two were trying to hold hands but were to unsure of your feelings that you couldn’t. You wanted desperately to do just that though. You wanted to hold her hand, gaze into her eyes, to taste her lips…

I Could Get Used To This
Pairing: Gert x Chase
Word Count: 1.3k
Warnings: Runaways Spoilers for Episode 7; Fluff?
A/N: The serious lack of GertxChase scenes in the last few episodes has been killing me so I had to write this. This is what I wish would happen between episode 7 and 8. It’s my first fic so I hope you enjoy it
Summary: After Molly is sent away, Gert has been feeling upset. She starts to feel a bit better after a visit from Chase in the middle of the night.
Gert laid in her bed on her side. She was dressed in her pajamas, the typical shorts and T-shirt, and tucked under her covers. The moonlight shone through her bedroom window onto her face. She tried to remain quiet as she cried through the night. Molly was gone and there was nothing Gert could do or say to bring her back. Her parents were dead set on sending her adoptive sister away. Gert knew that Molly was going to be okay. She was with family, however distant, and Molly was strong. However, Gert didn’t want Molly to have to be strong, she wanted her home, in her own bed, safe and asleep. Gert sobbed harder at these thoughts. She didn’t even know when her sister would return.
Suddenly, there was a tapping on Gert’s window. She jumped and nearly fell out of bed. All she could see was a human type shape sitting at her window. She slid out of bed onto the floor, using her bed as a shield. She didn’t know who or what was lurking outside her window. With everything that was going on, it could be trying to kill her. She grabbed her glasses from off her desk. When she put them on, the figure was pulled into focus.
