          “ what? no one’s shown you where the best pizza place in town is? that’s criminal. here allow me to help you out and show you the best pizza you’ve had in paragon.”

         even as remy began to shuffle the cards, lyra tried her best to follow the card and stay focused. she knew lots of tricks relied on deception so she figured that if she followed the card she’d be able to notice anything funny going on. however when the trick was over, lyra was left staring at the card she had chosen. “oh damn, actually that is it. how’d you do it?”

          breathing out a sigh of relief, lyra gently rubbed her younger sister’s back. “ good, because that would be impossible, d.” she joked again as she pulled away. “ that’s good to hear. all of this is too weird even for me.”

          “ the sweetest! that’s you!” even if she had been sober in the moment she still would’ve thought that the alien was a sweetheart. from the time she spent with the older woman, lyra had grown to adore her. “ i’m happy that i made ya proud.” with another dopey grin plastered on her face, lyra leaned back onto the couch doing her best to not spill the water all over the place. luckily just a small amount had spilled on her own shirt. “ what’re doing tonight? just chilling?”

“ sir, yes sir.” with a small mock salute, lyra did as she was told and focused on the card he mentioned.

          “ in that case, you’re always welcome to come over to my apartment and take a break. there’s plenty of places to take a nap and lots of snacks.” she offered without hesitation. despite the day just starting, lyra was always in the mood for a lazy day.

          she’s stumbling even as kara attempted to help her into the house. truth of the matter was that she was halfway into binge watching the office with a bottle of wine when she realized it had been forever and a day since she had bothered kara. “ i wanted to be a surprise.” she exclaimed, trying her best to still smoothly wink. “i mean, i wanted it to be a surprise. me. not it? semantics.” sinking into the comfort of the couch, lyra let out a soft sigh. she really needed to find out what brand the couch was. god damn it was like a cloud. — oh! water! “yes yes, responsible adult over here. drinking the water provided by the sweet angel alien kara. you’re the best, you know that?”

          “ oh really? give me a sec to brace myself— ok, on with the show.”

           in lyra’s eyes, zatanna was an incredible woman. the way she spoke, the way she carried herself. everything was so sultry and confident. the young mutant alien was just drawn to her, as she was sure many others were. her body began to feel lighter as she took another large gulp of her drink, leaving less than a fourth left in her glass. sipping on a drink had never really been her style. the faster the effect kicked in the better. “ as you wish, darling.” and with the magicians blessing, she finally downed the rest of the glass. “ there we go, now it’s your turn.” she coyly replied back, holding up her empty glass as if it were a trophy.

          she knew that dreamy look that appeared on sid’s face. the googly-eyed, rose tinted gaze that caused her to focus on her phone instead of lyra’s words. by the time the blonde looked up at her, lyra was already smirking. “ oh nothing, just that you’re looking super happy right now. who’s the lucky lady?”

          she had just phased into the room when she caught logan speaking to a student. noticing the tension and wanting to defuse it, she purposely knocked something off of the desk near her. “ whoops. did i come at a bad time?” it would be easier to deflect with the attention on her after all.

           hearing his explanation, lyra found her grin growing even more.  whenever someone expressed an interest in space, she couldn’t hide her happiness. the more people that loved what she did meant the more people she could talk to about it. to hear the danvers-drew gush about it was no exception to that. the only conflict came when he asked her how she could be apart from it. “ space is amazing and seems endless honestly. i’m never bored when i’m up there. you should totally study that! and maybe the next time i go i can see if i can bring you with me.” she’s focused on the dreamy way he viewed space to keep her from getting too serious about her answer. “that’s easy, spider baby. my sisters and mom are down here. i can’t be away from them for too long. plus all of my babes would miss me too much too.”

          “ when have i ever said no to your cool card tricks?” lyra teased, a smirk growing on her face.

          gasping dramatically, lyra leaned away from finch. “the horror! writing me out of your will is cruel and unusual punishment.” she’s only joking like she usually does, teasing finch until the batteries were flashed in her face. her entire expression morphed into a mixture of curiosity and pride. of course he had swiped one of the batteries from the milano without anyone really catching him. he was a badass thief after all, her pride and joy. “ oh snap! when did you get your hands on that? i’m impressed.”
