one funny result of the oot remake is that all the people that only ever played botw/totk are going to finally realize that the triforce used to like, be important
Ok ok ok I need to talk about the thing (oot remake)
Was a remake needed? No, not really. A port of either nes or remaster version at reasonable prices? Long overdue.
I am however, very happy since this is a big step in a different direction than the last 10 years of feeling stuck in the botw era. With occasional treats from the remastered LA and EOW.
I really hope they keep a lot of the original story and gameplay intact to preserve the elements of the original game, but I hope they build off of it to bring it into the modern age.
Things I would personally love to see improvements or explorations on (ranges from nitpicky to some more general ideas):
Sage medallions, would love for them to have more purpose like they were originally intended to. Maybe a reworked magic system that can be used for both combat and dungeon crawling?
More convenient usage of the 3 current spells (if not reworked into prior mentioned point)
Expanded combat mechanics
Increased complexity of dungeons
Expanded hub worlds with side quests
A bomber's notebook kind of tracker would be great for going back and forth with time travel and quest lines
Improved skulltula prizes
So so hopeful but redo the gerudo from scratch just start it all over we can save them from orientalism purgatory
Further interactions with Sheik and insight on what he (she) has been doing in Link's 7 year absence
Oh god a Sheik solo dlc would be amazing
Though if it was made into another "hyrule warriors" dlc/spinoff I might lose my mind
The og was perfect
Improve functionality and convenience of the Biggoron Sword, ice arrows, mirror shield, silver and gold gauntlets
Condense hookshot and longshot into one item, possibly gauntlets too or with the gold gauntlets being an optional item to earn
Increase difficulty of bosses
Bonus temple, possibly a light temple?
Bigger fishing pond
More return value for completed dungeons for bonus upgrades and optional items
Horseback combat improvement
More overall replay value; enhance master quest/hero mode, certain rewards for 100% the game or no game overs that can carry over to the next save file
Things I hope they don't do
Non-Hylian races being redesigned to fit botw era designs
Open world design, oot worked well with its hub worlds even if they lacked content
Voice acting
Rely on tying the story to twilight princess and wind waker, oot works great on its own
Controversial opinion but give abilities associated with masks, leave that gimmick to its sequel
Completely rework the water temple
Or in that tangent, make dark link a bigger presence. He's best when left as an one-off deal
Maybe also controversial, but focus too much on the hyrulian civil war that took place before the game. Show in subtly, don't tell
A bonus epilogue that focuses on anything else than a direct tie to majora's mask. They can do the exact cutscene of zelda giving the ocarina to link from mm without changing anything and it'd be perfect. Can possibility only be unlockable if you 100% the game, no game overs or some other achievement
Make master quest a paid dlc or add on
Large variety of outfits and weapons arsenal, better to just improve what's already there
Too much of a focus on the timeline split, leave details ambiguous to keep canon flexible to work with

i wanted to make a poll of "what's your favorite zelda game" but i couldn't list them all before hitting the limit on poll options so just drop your favorite zelda game in the comments or tags. i'm curious which ones are most popular among my audience
