More than a year ago I’ve done a post to compare Kit&Rose relationship with Sam&Caitriona’s one. I remember I’ve talked with @surana17​ about Rose interview and that was the input to do it… Also @blondehairedlass​ is a big fan of GOT and she loves Kit&Rose so she knows a lot more things than me. Today I want to post an updated version with more details. It’s unclear exactly when sparks started to fly between Harington and Leslie, but one thing we know for sure is where the two fell for each other — on the set of a little old show called Game of Thrones.

“I fell in love in Iceland,” Harington revealed during a 2016 appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, referring to the filming location of Jon Snow’s scenes beyond the Wall. “I fell in love with my co-star.” 

Admittedly, their on-screen relationship was pretty much doomed from the start. But in real life, their connection seems to have only grown stronger over time. The pair was first rumored to be dating in 2012 when TMZ released photos of them holding hands at a restaurant. 

KR “All rumour and myth. Me and Rose [Leslie] are very, very close and very good friends. And continue to be, actually. She’s wonderful. But no, no love affair.”

SM “We’re not together,” Caitriona told E! News exclusively today while promoting Outlander’s April return. “It’s funny. We’ve always said from the get go that we’re incredibly great friends. 

And to have that friendship and that closeness and to be able to get along as we do on set, it’s great that we’re able to get along that well. We’re not together. I’m sorry to break people’s hearts. They like to try to maybe replicate the Claire and Jamie story. But I think it would be difficult for us to work together and be together.”

“Yeah, we could try…” Sam interjected (and you have to watch the video for Cait’s reaction to that!).

Harington denied there was anything but friendship between them in several interviews over the next few years, but also openly admitted that he is private about his love life.

“On a serious level, I wouldn’t tell the press if I was in a relationship or not,” he told the London Evening Standard in 2014. “I wouldn’t ever reveal that, because it takes you down a certain road… I have no desire to be courting the press with my love life. It’s not my job, it’s not who I am — and I actually think it’s more fun for everyone to speculate. The minute I start telling people things are true or not true, then it’s just boring.” 

“It was a weird one, we were asked in an interview and we were honest about it – and I really sort of felt we shouldn’t really discuss it,” Heughan begins, “having said that, I guess we’re aware of it, and we’re aware that some fans were upset, they felt they’d been duped or something, which is really strange because we’re just doing our job.”

“I think if me and Caitriona were together we wouldn’t say. Why would you?” he says. “In this industry we give away so much of ourselves anyway. We talk about ourselves and we tell people stuff.”

He does find the speculation at least a little flattering, though: “I guess it’s nice that we’ve done our job well enough to convince them.”

KR Even though they hadn’t ever confirmed they were dating themselves, reports surfaced that they had broken up in August 2013, which came as a shock to many. The Stir reported that a source claimed Leslie had a new boyfriend who was not in the public eye and was “eager to keep this relationship out of the spotlight.”

After a period of being single, she has a boyfriend again now – he’s a “civilian”, Caitriona says, ie not involved in the movie industry.

“He’s a very shy person, he doesn’t like much talking about him. I met him through one of my best friends which I think it’s the best kind of introduction you can get” 

After being spotted holding hands and kissing in January 2016, they made their public debut as a couple at that year’s Olivier awards. 

“If you’re already attracted to someone, and then they play your love interest in the show, it becomes very easy to fall in love,” 

Harington told L’Uomo Vogue about a month later.
