You were made to be ruled....

Is there intended to be a gay subtext to their relationship and by extension to the kind of Obscurus plotline? (X)

Regency Kyo-Ren and General Hux.

1) This is a callback to Captain Needa. Who takes full responsibility for a msitake and apologizes to Vader but gets killed in an instant because Vader’s in a pissy mood about not having his kid around. Hux says this to both Ren and Snoke, and lives. He’s that necessary to them.

2) That look of disgust makes me think Hux might be planning to kill Snoke. And he might succeed. Snoke is no Emperor Palpatine, and Kylo Ren is no Darth Vader. That’s not a dig on TFA, that is the part of the appeal, that these guys are pretenders and pretenders are still dangerous. Hux is no Tarkin either–Tarkin had Vader’s respect–but he’s still probably about as competent. Hux survives, but Tarkin didn’t and we might see in Hux why its a good thing Tarkin didn’t.

3) This may mean nothing, but Grand Moff Tarkin is unique among major villains in the main movies. Consider their deaths:

The Emperor – Killed by Darth Vader

Darth Vader – Killed by the Emperor

Jabba the Hutt – Killed by Leia Organa

Boba Fett – Killed by Han Solo (hilariously)

Grand Moff Tarkin – Killed by Luke Skywalker (when he blew up the Death Star

Hell, the only reason the Starkiller fell was because 1) Han and Finn got Phasma to lower the shields, and 2) Kylo Ren was too busy murdering his father to report that there were known Resistance folk trying to sabotage the place.
