getting tired of people who randomly assume you’re uncritically engaging with things and show up in your personal posts telling you information you already know so condescendingly … someone whose url i’ve never seen before replied ’lemony snicket was a racist misogynist’ to a post where i expressed fondness for the character sunny baudelaire (the baby with sharp teeth) … like… if you want to tell me something you consider important about any author do it in a normal message with more context and explanation instead of randomly yelling a one liner at me in the street like i’ve personally offended you. also. i like shakespeare plays and i’m quite sure that he was racist and misogynistic too, alas. i am not going to stop engaging thinkingly with things on my own terms just because of fearmongering and total avoidance of every problematic aspect to something. this is because i would rather be an adult. hope that helps

Imagine watching senior citizen Logan Roy almost fuck over his company because he's losing his shit about an imaginary dead cat because he has an UTI which likely has to do with fucking his personal assistant in bizzare ways while trying to conceive another heir at the age of 83 after all his adult children turned out to be losers and thinking you're being sold capitalism here. the real “problem with political correctness” is not that it’s considered offensive to use slurs, but that there are now many “progressive” environments where saying the right things is more important than doing the right thing. it’s why it’s so easy for abusers to gain traction in leftist circles (they learn the right words quickly and employ them to frame their own behavior as progressive); it’s why so much potential activist energy gets poured into fighting about language; it’s why moderate liberals didn’t believe fer/guson had a problem until the police emails with actual racist language were leaked. (you can do racist things, you just can’t SAY racist things.) i don’t have a neat conclusion here but a related point is that i’m so much happier since i started focusing on like, being a good kind caring person instead of trying to remove the word “crazy” from the vocabulary of everyone in my family
