i just can’t believe nobody one mentions this line at all!!! brenda being both victim & perpetrator adds so much context to the character. she’s not just motivated out of jealousy and spite (something that would have felt misogynistic honestly, not what herinteractive is known for) she has warped survivalist traits so she hits even harder when someone tries to make her feel lesser than. it’s not excusable, but it’s a very real insight into a certain kind of abuse victim especially when compared to nancy’s upbringing and support.
saying the line to ned and the both of them just moving past it without a second thought normalizes her entire situation. i can’t cry about it so i’m internalizing it and moving on and you will too because this situation requires my survival also.

Was cleaning up my bookshelves this weekend and noticed (surprise, surprise) I have a lot of Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew books. Decided to look around to see if I could round out some of my series that I am close to having the full set for from second hand places. Decided to check Amazon too (my first mistake) and bro...
Okay, like I used to buy these for less than $2 back in the day but with inflation I guess this isn't that unreasonable...
hmm, okay that is seeming less reasonable (also, unrelated, but Joe is looking very Connor Storrie on this cover imho):
bruh hardly anyone even read these ones... it is part of the reason this series died...
Okay I guess this one is a little more special because it is the 1970s TV show tie in but still... almost $200?!

quick headcanon time:
i’ve always thought that this lady, from the magicians’ room in FIN, was dexter egan’s bio mom. we know from the scrapbooks that dexter never took ezra’s last name, even as a child, so it stands to reason that “egan” came from his birth parent(s). and we also know from the scrapbooks that dexter would have been born sometime in the 30s, so the timeline works out. if allison was a woman making a living from a solo act in that time period, that also explains why she might not have felt able/willing to raise a child. (plus, if that’s dexter’s mom’s last name, that would have made it an out-of-wedlock pregancy, which again might explain why allison put him up for adoption. it’s possible egan is her married name, of course, but that doesn’t go as well with my theory, now does it?)
After replaying MID for the third time here are some actual positives I can think of:
