Dragon Age Kiss Week
Day 7 sneaky
DA Kiss Week 26 - Day 7: Sneaky So, for this one I had another bout of indecisiveness. The first one, is a sneaky thryst outside. And the second and third one, a sneaky kiss in a corridor at the Winter Palace.
Spirits Mourn in Silence
For @dragonagekissweekDay - Day 6 - Mourning
He had expected to return unnoticed and make his way to the rotunda like he hadn't just been gone for two days. But she was there, in the courtyard walking toward him and when she offered to carry his grief with him, he almost folded.
For one horrifying moment he thought he was going to sink to his knees in front of all the beings in Skyhold and start to weep. Yes, his duty, his burden was so heavy. But her arms seemed strong enough to hold him, he was certain of it, witnessed the strength of those arms as they consoled others. Her spirit was radiant, it blazed in the Fade and the spirits were drawn to her. Her heart was kind, for she somehow managed to win the loyalty and dedication of so many beings of this world. And her will was fierce enough, for heād seen that will in action to make the impossible, possible. If there was anyone that could carry a burden such as him, it was her.
You donāt have to be alone.
He was so very tired of being alone.
But what he mourned meant he would always be alone. What he mourned was older than she knew and bound to everything he concealed from her. To share what he truly mourned, what the death of his friend of Wisdom really meant would mean revealing the truth. To let her stand beside him in his grief would mean trusting her with all of him. He wasnāt certain he believed that was possible
Yet as he looked at her, he allowed himself to imagine it. A path not walked alone.
What a foolish thing it had been to mention the kiss.
He had come to her room, stood out on her balcony still carrying grief for his friend but his heart filled with warmth as he spoke with her. He heard the foolish words leave his mouth and watched her move closer. He felt the warmth of her body as she lifted her face to his, offering him the very foolish thing he wanted. It wasnāt just wanting to kiss her again, this time in the waking world - it was wanting that connection with her. He stared down into her eyes, her arms behind her back, beckoning him. Leaving now would be kinder in the long run, for he knew that in the end, all he would be able to offer her was pain.
He turned to leave without words, for he didn't trust himself to speak, to speak meant he would tell her that he loved her.
āDonāt go.ā
But the thought of losing her now, in this moment, hurt more than any future sorrow he could imagine.
He turned back and gathered her into his arms and kissed her. His kiss was filled with everything - fear, desire, shame, need - all the grief he had carried alone for so long and all the love that had finally made him believe he may have found someone who he could share it with.
āAr lath ma, vhenanā
The words escaped him. His heart had spoken for him, decided for him answering the promise she had made in the courtyard.
You donāt have to be alone.
But you do not have to go alone.
He couldn't have heard her correctly.
Still, after all this time, after all heād done, after all the pain he caused her - she still offered him the same thing she had offered him so long ago.
You donāt have to be alone.
Sheād been telling him a truth he couldnāt hear for so very long, one he found almost impossible to believe after thousands of years of disappointment. In the ancient, wicked courts of the Evanuris, truth had been a currency, a lie in which to trick another and hold power over them. Yet this astonishing, mortal woman possessed more conviction, kept her word with greater certainty and showed more dedication than all the Evanuris combined.
He wanted to speak, to confess everything he had never found the courage to tell her all these many years. To sink to his knees and weep like he had so many years ago in that courtyard, but all that came out was a very weak warning.
āWhere I am going is terrible.ā
And with the strength and resilience of her spirit that he loved, that never wavered, she answered without hesitation, her eyes blazing with love:
It wonāt be terrible if youāre with me. We make this journey together. Always.ā
Never had anyone spoken such truths to him and stood standing with him at the end, fully in that truth.
When she turned her face up to his and drew close, as she had first done on that balcony long ago, his cracked, blighted and bloody lips found hers in the softest of touches. Her touch was like the cold drink of water soothing the parched throat of a dying man.
He didn't deserve it, the world knew that much. But at last he accepted her offer, at last he would trust the path alongside her.
She had never asked him to stop mourning. She had only asked him to let her mourn with him, for, he realized as he gazed into her eyes, she had her own grief that needed his arms too.
And he would make sure his arms never left her again.

Dragon Age Kiss Week 2026
DAY 1 - Camp
@dragonagekissweek pairing: solavellan
Oh, I'm running a bit late again. Why am I always exactly one day behind? I hope you'll like it :) *kiss*
"Perhaps this, too, shouldn't be done without warning?"
Solas had watched her all evening. The way she unbuckled the straps of the bags fastened to her horse and sorted through her belongings. The way she chattered idly with Cassandra, trying to win a smile or a laugh from her while the other woman pitched the tents. Solas certainly thought such a thing inappropriate, better to let Cassandra work and keep her mind on her task, but Lavellan's light movements, her quick smiles, her soft, full lips, would not let him think freely. Nor did it escape him that she'd taken part in preparing supper, tending the meat and vegetables over the fire once everyone had gathered to eat.
The evening was calm and quiet. A drizzling rain that had followed them the whole way had only just stopped. The air was cold and sharp, filled with the forest scent of pine, moss, and mushrooms. But near the fire, a different mood reigned. Waves of warmth soothed them, and the smell of smoke and roasting meat soon came to dominate their small camp.
Solas settled himself across from the fire, and Lavellan took her place on the other side of the flames, facing him. A couple of her glances did not escape him, and he held each one. Did she truly have the nerve to trade such looks with him and yet not bother with a single word? Solas accepted the game and gave a quiet smirked. He admitted that jealousy pricked at him when Lavellan leaned in to listen to something the Bull murmured close against her ear, then burst into loud laughter. Solas saw the flush rise on her cheeks. What had he said to her? Solas uncorked the bottle of wine they'd bought passing through a tavern, and took a couple of swallows.
"Wine on an empty stomach?"
Lavellan's voice was light and playful. Solas swallowed his wine and looked up. Lavellan was holding out a plate of supper to him.
"Well, that's settled now, isn't it?" Solas took the plate, deliberately letting his fingers brush against hers.
"Was it worth it?" Lavellan leaned toward him, so quickly that he was caught off guard. This woman was driving him out of his mind. But she only took his round-bellied bottle, pulled the cork, and took a sip of his wine. Solas watched in silence as her lips closed around the neck of the bottle, and how magnificent her throat looked, and the slight curve of her neckline in the warm firelight. He couldn't tear his eyes away from her.
"Mm, not bad," Lavellan said, shaking her head, and handed the bottle back to him. "That's a fine plan you've got, wine, a quiet evening, supper. Rest well."
"That's not the only plan I have for this evening," Solas said, looking straight into her eyes. He was captivated, and his voice came out a touch more serious than usual. Lavellan felt it. She shifted her weight from one foot to the other and had only just parted her lips to ask something, when the next batch of supper, simmering over the coals, began to burn, the smell reaching her a moment later, and she broke off at once and dashed to the meat to save it. Solas chuckled, watching her go, and let his gaze sweep over everyone seated around the fire. His eyes met Sera's, who was watching him, eyes narrowed, shaking her head. Every movement of hers spoke of confusion, judgment, appraisal. Solas held her gaze and turned back to his supper and his wine.
After supper, everyone began drifting off to their tents. Cassandra went first, then Sera followed after her, and after another half hour of watching, Solas left too. He realized he'd missed the moment when volunteers were chosen, so it was the Bull who offered to put out the fire, wash the dishes, and keep watch until morning. He also played the role of gracious host and sent Lavellan off, as thanks for supper, despite all her loud attempts to help him. Lavellan didn't resist for long, and soon left everything to the Bull, heading off toward her own tent. Her head was spinning slightly from the light haze of drink, and she stepped very carefully through the grass so as not to trip by accident.
Suddenly she heard the crack of branches, and a second later someone seized her by the arm and pulled her along. Lavellan instinctively drew the dagger from her belt and pressed it to her captor's throat when he led her behind a tent, out of sight of prying eyes, and pinned her back against the taut canvas. The dim light of the torches fell across her captor's face, but Lavellan deliberately did not lower the blade. Solas ignored the thin edge at his throat. He set his palms upon her waist and drew them upward in one firm motion, feeling every curve of her body.
His leg settled commandingly between hers, and, whether by accident or not, Lavellan gave a slight roll of her hips, pressing herself closer against him.
"I could have killed my captor, you know. One really shouldn't do that without warningā¦"
"Perhaps this, too, shouldn't be done without warning?"
Solas leaned in to Lavellan and kissed her fervently. She slid the dagger back into its sheath and wound her arms around his neck, pulling him closer against her. There were no preambles, no playful preludes. Lavellan returned the kiss with the same hunger and passion, fanning the spark into an all-consuming fire. Solas kissed her soft lips, teased at her tongue, tasting the tart sharpness of wine on her mouth. He had watched her for so long, and now he found himself catastrophically starved for her. If it had been within his power, he would have kept her, day and night, until the two of them, exhausted and in love, fell asleep at last.
DA Kiss Week 26 - Day 6: Mourning This was the hardest prompt of all. I couldn't really come up with something more original. So, here's Solas and Letha in an AU where she died. I also couldn't decide which reshade preset I liked best, so I put both of them up.

Exploration
For @dragonagekissweek - Day 4 - Exploration (spicy photos under the cut)
Beyond the barricades, Minrathous prepared to defend itself against a god and his armies, and Solas and Saethre would return to opposing sides soon enough. But here, now, within the privacy of this room, they finally crossed that threshold they had so longed to explore. They surrendered - the world beyond be damned.

Help the Hurt, Save the Small
For Dragon Age Kiss Week - Day 3: Courtyard.
The complaints about Cole were beginning to irritate her. As though there were anything she could do to control a strange young man who was more spirit than man. And besides, she liked him. She found being around him calmed her and she enjoyed trying to decipher the cryptic things he sometimes said.
But, Josie was fretting. Too many complaints had come in about strange things happening around Skyhold which led many of the advisors to point to Cole. So Lavellan agreed to speak with him.
She made her way through the courtyard in search of Cole. Finding him often became a familiar game of hide-and-seek and after asking several people and searching all his usual places, she was about to give up. She had started toward the courtyard steps when Coleās voice drifted over to her.
She turned, ready to call out to him, but stopped when she saw that he was occupied.
A litter of kittens surrounded his feet as he laughed and danced carefully among them. She had noticed a few times that the stable cats seemed drawn to him, and Cole never appeared bothered by their company. These kittens, especially, seemed unable to leave him alone.
She couldnāt help but smile and made her way over to him āThere you are Cole, I was looking for youā.
Cole bent down and gently petted the head of a kitten that was clearly the runt of the litter. It was a calico with beautifully spotted orange, black and white fur. The little creature stretched its front paws up on Coleās leg, meowing insistently for more attention.
Lavellan crouched beside them and stroked the kittenās head, the smile still lingering on her face. āWhat do you call the little one?ā she asked as she stood again.
āHe is called a cat.ā he said matter-of-factly.
Lavellan shook her head, amused. āYes, sorry, I know heās called a cat. I mean, whatās his name? Did you give him one?ā
Cole looked down at the little runt, who was still meowing up at him. He leaned down and carefully lifted the kitten into his hands, holding him with such gentleness that Lavellanās smile softened even more.
Cole stared into the kittenās eyes, listening closely to each tiny mew. After a moment, he nodded and drew him against his chest. He pressed a soft kiss to the top of the kittenās head before tucking him into the crook of his neck.
āHe doesnāt know his name yet because his mother never told him. And now she's gone. They miss her.ā
Lavellan's brow creased slightly in concern, āWhat happened to the litterās mother?ā
Cole shrugged and glanced down at the other kittens as they climbed over his feet and tumbled around one another. āShe went away and didnāt come back. They donāt know why. Blackwall found them and told me.ā He held the litte runt closer against his neck. āI will take care of them.ā
A lump rose in Lavellanās throat. A sudden rush of warmth and protectiveness came over her, not only for the helpless kittens, but for Cole as well. āIāll go to the kitchen and get some milk for them, all right?ā
Cole smiled, āYes, they would like that.ā
Lavellan had only taken a few steps when he called after her.
āYou said you were looking for me. Did you need my help?ā
She looked back at him, still holding the tiny kitten against his neck, while the others played around his feet. The complainers could take their complaints and shove them up their asses as far she was concerned.
Lavellan shook her head. āNo, Iām fine. Let me go get you that milk.ā She nodded toward the kitten tucked beneath his chin. āWhile Iām gone, perhaps you could consider being the one to tell him his name.ā
This piece was inspired by this Cole art. It's a mouse in the art but I couldn't get kittens out of my head.
This began as a bit of dialogue I wrote between Senka and Lucanis for last year's Lucanis Week. Now we flesh it out.
This one was hella fun to write.

Blueberries WERE absolutely harmed in the making. Cheeky bastards.
This is the recipe utilized in the story. I like blueberries. I like scones. I like to bake. Why not?
(I left off the "vanilla icing" because I find the taste of copious amounts of powdered sugar displeasing. A little butter brushed on top, a heavy-handed "sprinkle" [make it rain baby!] of coarse sugar and bam! Tasted like heaven.)
