“you are being very mean about all of this. and i’m going to tell everyone about this.” elodie pouted and crossed her arms. 

“Oh, who are they gonna believe? Me? Or you?” 

“One I believe or one I think is hilarious? Because the flat Earth conspiracy is iconic but also ridiculous.”

“I can almost buy the flat earth theory - except for the giant Antarctic walls. That’s where I draw the line.” 

“I guess that’s fair. Every generation thinks the ones that follow them are absolutely bonkers,” he chuckled. “Things are changing too quickly if you ask me. Kids are growing up too fast, there’s a new technology every day, an app for literally anything you can think of,” he sighed. It’s amazing and terrifying at the same time.”

“i DEFINITELY can, you are being VERY mean to me,” elodie pouted. she was being overdramatic but she’d keep this act up for as long as she could.

“I’m not being mean, I’m being honest,” Nate said with a wink. 

“But that’s 90% of facebook? You can’t mention facebook without the minion memes. Oh hell yeah, you’re right. But listen, those are THE best. I’m practically an expert on conspiracies now.”

“An expert, you say? What’s your favorite conspiracy, then?”

“i think i identify most with dogs because i’m more playful and competitive. there are times when i like to be alone and also wreck havoc but more often than not, i want to do the opposite.” he nodded as he kept his eyes on the movements of the other male. “it’s ridiculous. no one cared before facebook and no one cares now. let’s find a new outlet to complain that doesn’t involve everyone.” 

“We could have people resort back to standing on small boxes in the middle of town, yelling about their opinions and hoping people listen?” Nate smirked. “I mean it’s still annoying but you have the option of flicking someone off when they annoy you.”

“Some people find the weirdest things online. Sometimes I feel sorry for the people who work for errand apps, they get some super random orders sometimes. On the plus side… If you ever need to pick up something weird now, you can say you’re picking it up for someone else, and nobody would question it.” 

“I’ve actually thought about signing up for one of those apps, in all seriousness. Like I think it’d be boring most of the time but It’d be worth it when someone asks me to pick up something really insane.”

“ouch nat, just ouch.” elodie held a hand up to her chest, pretending to be offended by his comment. “i can be VERY serious when i want to be.”

“Can you though? Because I just don’t see that happening.”

“I think fake pranks are too obvious and the dudes doing them are always obnoxious douche bags,” he laughed, “I can’t watch them for more than a minute.” Noah nodded his head, “Entertainment has really gone down hill.”

“Maybe people decided to try and shake it up for a little bit, I’m sure the cat videos will be back soon enough. I mean… They’re too cute not to be right? Doesn’t the internet make everyone a little lazier? Blame it on that.” 

“Oh for sure, the internet has done an amazing job at making everyone lazy. Well, in some ways. It’s pretty amazing that you can order things so obscure on there without having to leave your house.”

“Are you kidding me? Once memes end up on facebook, you know they’re old. Facebook is just now getting the whole flossing and fortnite stuff. Then the stuff that isn’t old is all minions shit. What could reddit possibly be better for?”

“We don’t talk about the minion memes. I still think those were some plague that hit us when no one was expecting it and there’s unfortunately no cure. As for Reddit, I think it’s better suited for conspiracy theories and that kind of shit.”

“but dogs are happy all the time so you can’t help but smile when watching the videos. cats just make people say ‘same’ like it’s their mood or something.” he shook his head, thinking about the website. “it’s literally hell. older people just use it as an outlet to talk about their meaningless lives.” 

“I mean, I personally identify with a cat on all levels. Sometimes I just want to be left alone to lay on the floor like nothing is bothering me. Plus there’s the strange urge I usually have to knock shit off of tables, but I think that’s just cause I like chaos, ya know?” Nate chuckled as he turned his screen off and slid his phone into his pocket. “They talk about their meaningless lives and their politics. Which are usually... eh.”

“If you’re looking for cat videos on Facebook you’re gonna be disappointed dude.” Xander replied, shaking his head. “Hate to be that guy but reddit is where to go. Reddit and youtube. Facebook is just politics and stale memes.”

“First off, I can’t believe you just said ‘stale memes.’ There’s nothing stale about facebook memes, they’re just... for a different taste. Second, reddit is better used for other things.” 

“I don’t think funny cat videos have been a thing since, like, 2012.” Noah pulled out his phone and scrolled through his timeline, “I think now the only thing people care about is fake pranks and dumb challenges.”

“I mean I also like watching those fake prank videos, but I think they sometimes get... really savage? Though the challenges? Now those are entertaining for their complete idiocy.” 

        with an exasperated sigh, he leaned back in his stool — waving his arms at his side when he nearly lost balance at the sudden movement. “shit— fuck !” he shouted in the middle of the buzzing room, planting his feet on the ground and catching his breath before slamming the stool to the ground. annoyance flooded his features at the inconvenience, eyeing his beer for a moment and then turning to the male with his thumb jammed toward his chest. “the fuck did you say to me?”

“What? Oh, I wasn’t talking to you in particular I was just,” Nate waved his other other hand at his phone. “Facebook and people sucking is what I was mostly getting at.”

“cat videos? those are easier to find than anything. you should try mixing it up a bit. maybe look at some dog videos. they’re a lot funnier.” hudson lifted an eyebrow at the other before smiling. “some of them are, at least. cats can be sassier than dogs.” he was rambling about stupid videos and wasn’t sure why. “facebook has changed into a whining fest for everyone on the earth. those are facts.” 

“As much as I love dogs, cat videos are the far superior subject of entertainment in my eyes, especially because of the sass.” He smirked. “Yeah, it’s turned into a hell hole, hasn’t it?”

elodie looked over from her book and to her brother. she rolled her eyes after he made his comment. “you’ve just gotta like google cat videos or something. you can’t trust facebook for everything. sometimes you’ve got to actually look for what you want.” she paused for a moment, “wow that sounded way too serious.”

“Yeah it sounded beyond serious, especially coming from you. And you know I don’t take anything you say seriously at all.”
