So I like… absolutely HATE doing this but I’m like… uber desperate rn so I figured I’d go ahead and try here.
In short: I got screwed by a scam insurance company and they took my money ($431.13) without my approval (I never finished the setup but they took my cash and refuse to answer my calls). I’m waiting on the dispute with my bank now but it’ll take a few days. I was also screwed by a legitimate company for $218 and some change because they didn’t cover my GP despite the fact that my GP accepts that insurance. I’m currently waiting on word of me getting on Medicaid but that’ll be a few days too. I need money now because my last payment (the one that I was told would be covered) put me in the red (again). I’m already in debt with my mom too because she’s been helping me stay afloat but I’m really, really struggling. My hours got cut at work after I explicitly told them I NEED THE HOURS after I already took a massive pay cut.

idk if this is controversial or not, but I really like when non-professional writing like fic has hints of author bleedthrough when it comes to like, what different people assume is common knowledge. Like sometimes I’ll be reading a fic and it’ll just be obvious that the person writing it is either obsessed with medicine or has been to medical school, because they’ll use terms that are just a shade too technical without explaining them. It’s never the super specific stuff that they’d know other people are unaware of, it’s always the things that once you’ve known it for a while you forget it’s niche knowledge. It’s fun because as a fanfic reader it reminds me of how this is a fun hobby community, where everyone has their own thing going on outside of fandom. Everyone’s got their own specialties and they can’t help but write that into their work sometimes

N-Finity has a lot of repurposed plane parts. Why? Because I know an absurd amount of information about planes.
Slow me to info-dump: Specifically in the scene of Love to N-Finity where his hip gives out because he’s in a cold environment and he (begrudgingly) explains that he’s made of defunct Boeing 737 parts (dual-servo valve and CPU system) and cold temperatures and hot hydraulic fluid don’t mix well with a dual-servo valve system. It isn’t normally an issue for N-Finity because he has an internal heating system (which failed here). Dual-servo valve issues in planes cause ‘rudder hardover/reversal events’, where the failed system would lock the rudders in a left or right position and can also reverse trajectory (turn the rudder right and the system registers left and vice versa). United Airline Flight 585 (1991) and USAir Flight 427 (1994?) experienced these failures and unfortunately both flights lost all souls on board. It wasn’t until Eastwind Airlines Flight 517 in 1996 that the flight crew and all on board survived a hardover and reversal, leading them to have witnesses for evidence to lead them to the CPU and Dual-Servo valves stalling and reversing mid-air and lead to sweeping changes across flights across the globe. There’s an entire episode of MayDay Air Disasters that covers those cases as well as several other crashes/near crashes. Fascinating and highly educational!
