i like to imagine that finnco (pre-dating) started sharing a bedroom coincidentally. their house probably gets destroyed sometimes before the kids are a thing early on into them adventuring. say something/one destroys the part that has nico's room and he's like "eh its ok ill just sleep on the couch :)"
except its not ok bc its cold as all hell and he realizes finn likes his room toasty when he sleeps (literally full body pjs with hat in a sleeping bag on top of furs in show?? at the topmost point of the house?? finn, please-). so he just kinda. creeps in and wakes finn up. awkwardly asks if he can share the bed. finn doesnt care, he loves his friends. so then it just becomes a Thing.
then months later when nico's room is rebuilt he just cant get comfy like he used to. sleeping next to finn is just... nicer. feels better. safer. warmer.
then they start "dating" and well, finn doesnt really mind cuddling the homies. so it doesnt really bother him when nico starts to curl up on his chest a lil bit, or nuzzle into him, or purr in his sleep, etc etc.
then when they do start dating he pulls him in close at first, only to starfish out in the middle of the night

I knew I wanted them to live together but Nico would kinda take over Finn’s guest room, and that they’d share a room by the time they’re dating. I always kinda figured they’d start sharing Finn’s room before they make it official (or at least before Finn realizes they had been dating lmao) but I never knew what like. event would cause the switch. This works so well though. Thank you so much. I am kissing you on the mouth.
