Anyways, so here’s the AU headcanon:

Those who Slither in the Dark kidnapped Claude while he was at the monastery and performed crest experiments on him. Maybe they did this cause they're interested in how he's half Almyran and has a crest (assuming Almyra doesn't have any sort of Crests). I saw a really compelling comment that his second crest would probably be the Crest of Blaiddyd, so that’s what they’re infusing in the first panel.

The professor and classmates search for Claude for at least one moon and finally find him, but his hair is a different color. I want to draw Edelgard and Lysithea's reactions.... that'll come soonish.

I like to think that maybe at that point since Claude is familiar with TWSITD, it causes Edelgard to open up discussions with Claude about her plans. And Dimitri is very worried about Claude and his well-being after his kidnapping, especially since he for some reason is breaking things with superhuman strength similar to Dimitri but more reckless and uncontrolled (this is due to him having the Crest of Blaiddyd). Dimitri and Claude form a stronger friendship (could blossom into something more ohoho) because of how Dimitri helps Claude control his strength and maybe helps him through his trauma-related panic attacks??

Here’s my headcanon:

Claude developed a crush/liking towards Dimitri from their school days. Eventually, it became a deeper love, but Dimitri was not only an oblivious boi but was too busy battling his own demons to notice or reciprocate Claude's affection, thus the flowers from unrequited love

After 5 years pass, Dimitri and Claude finally reunite and work together in the war. In my headcanon, they work more closely in more battles to see the war through to the very end together (so Claude didn't dash out in AM route & Dimitri didn't die in VW route)

As they work together and have more moments to be themselves with each other, Dimitri realizes he loves Claude, but years ago, Claude removed the seed so that he could better focus on the war. Thus, he's unable to love Dimitri back.
