Oh gosh that's a tough question. Off the top of my head, would say:

hang out with Professor Byleth because I love fishing and it's been a hot minute since I've done that. She's also a good listener and I'd love to hear what sound/strange advice she'd give me.

I think an art/writing session with Bernadetta would be awesome. Maybe we'd hole up with some nice treats and work on activities or go out painting!

Maybe an off-kilter choice, but I feel like I would get along really well with Caspar - personally I love getting into japes and wacky hijinks, I love cats, and I enjoy combat sports so maybe we could train together???

Similarly I think I would get along great with Leonie - it would be nice to go on a hike and other outdoorsy things, train, camp, have a general disdain for nobles, etc.

Then, when Leonie is coming up as a mercenary herself, she starts to run into them.

At first she challenges them. She's unwilling to cede her role as "Captain Jeralt's first, best, and ONLY apprentice!"

But eventually, when she becomes the Blade Breaker II and inherits Jeralt's old bar tabs, she sees the wisdom in setting up a franchise.

Staying distant from other people comes naturally to her. It's easier to do that than to set oneself up for inevitable disappointment.

Leonie grew up in a small illage where everyone knew her. She grew up surrounded by people who supported her and believed in her. They wanted her to thrive and succeed. Even when she chose an odd path--following in the footsteps of a mercenary who only spent a short time in the village--they supported her to the point of gathering together money and sending her off.

Shamir knows loss and loneliness. Leonie knows the warmth of support.

They are so perfect for each other as a mentor and mentee!

Shamir has the practical knowledge and life experience to teach Leonie the things she wants to know. And she can even teach Leonie the things she didn't know she needed to know, such as the unique difficulties that arise from being a mercenary who is also a woman, and had no connections among those with power.

But Leonie can teach Shamir too. She can teach her the value of trust. She can teach her the value of believing in people, and believing that they will still be there when you really need them.

Leonie and Shamir head off together after Garreg Mach falls. At first, it seems that Leonie is the one to gain everything from this relationship. She learns how to negotiate a contract, how to calculate payment, and other practical skills.

But one day in battle, Shamir has a moment of hesitation and takes an arrow.

She knew it would happen one day. It was inevitable. She's dead. It's fine. She did alright, all things considered.

But then her apprentice shows up and insists on carrying her off the field of battle.

"What the hell are you doing!? Leave me! We'll both die, you idiot!"

"Shut up! I'm not leaving you! You're my mentor! Captain Jeralt wouldn't have left you behind, and neither will I!"

Shamir wants to hit Leonie until she relents, but she realizes she doesn't have the strength. She's lost a lot of blood.

"Fucking hell," Shamir thinks as Leonie puts Shamir on her back. "This is fucking stupid and we're both going to die!"

And yet...despite the blood loss (or maybe because of it??)...she feels strangely warm.
