Drag me to death, like a lit cigarette
like the smoke from my lips
I've lied for you, and I liked it too
But my knees are bruised, from kneelin' to you
But you're too hard to quit
Now your sugar makes me sick
I've lied for you, and I liked it too
And now I'm laughin' through my tears
I'm m cryin' through my fear
Tut baby, if I had to choose
Fourth Year - Autumn/ November
After being released from St Mungos Davos knew things would be awkward upon their return back to the grounds of Hogwarts. Davos tried to ignore the gossip that spread like wild fire which added a whole new level to their existence. The rumors ranged from that they had attack Idril in a fit of unbridled rage over drugs ,to whispers that Elysium was having a fling with Davos. Which made Ophelia confront Davos on behalf of Evan leading to the whole assault. Each rumor was ridiculous. Huffing in fustration they did their best to ignore the glares directed their way.Luckily their band mates including Bevy and Miyu were relieved to see them. They didn't ask or pry about what had happened just tried to carry on like it was just another ordinary day. Davos was thankful for that. It was a relief that they didn't believe any of the gossip.
Trying to act unphased Davos walked into their transfigurations class plopping down in the back row. He loathed going to each Professor asking for assignments they had missed. Their short responses and awkward tight smiles was just as bad as glares. Tapping the point of their quil down hard on their scroll their thoughts were in overdrive. It was odd when they floo'd back with Auror Finley to an empty office. The Headmaster wasn't there to greet them just their Head of House. Unfortunately it would only be a matter of time before they were summoned back to their office.By the elder gods above Davos wished they could avoid it a bit longer but luck was truly not on their side as of late. They had enough to deal with. All they had to do was hold out till the end of the week where they could finally port away for some butterbeer at the Hogshead. When Gravaise came to visit in hospital he promised to join them which Davos used that to focus on. Just a little longer was the chant circling in their head.
Once class was dismissed Davos lingered pressing their forehead against their desk not willing to move. "I'm glad you made it out of St Mungos with your sanity still intact. I know I was your most entertaining visitor in the excluded wing. Must have been extremely boring the last week of your stay." Elysium tried to joke but fell flat on Davos's solemn mood."It was rough but I managed. Your father was an absolute delight." Gathering their things pushed up to start heading towards the door. Elysium grabbed their forearm gently implying for them to stay, "You.... have been avoiding me..which has made it a bit harder to check in on you. Please don't push yourself Davos. It's more than understandable , even mental stress counts." Her actual concern was a breath of fresh air. " I'm fine just have to get back into the swing of things. It's been about a month away from classes which has left me with a mound of homework to catch up on." She still lightly held onto their arm not ready to let go as she frowned at their response, " Same here,it's going to be stressful cramming to try to catch up. If you want you can join my study group of the willing souls that have took pity on me.No pressure though. But.... I'm mainly worried you know about how you are being treated ..."
" Don't worry yourself it's nothing new. I'm sorry you have been dragged into this as well. Being absent at the same time truly didn't help. The gods can be such cunts." Davos gave her a forced smile when Evan made his way next to her with of course another glare ,"Isn't there another class you're supposed to be attending Nethrs , being late could cost your house points." Letting go Elysium knocked him harshly with her elbow as Davos pushed past them swiftly making their way out into the hallway. " Fuck this shit." Davos whispered to themself as they turned to leave heading anywhere but inside this prison when a slivery- white wispy mongoose swirled through the air followed by the Headmaster's voice, " Davos Nethrs you're requested to head to my office as soon as possible." Letting out a loud groan the hallway of onlookers giggled and mumbled to one another before they walked slowly as possible there. Davos could have ported directly into his office but what was the point knowing full well this would be a lengthy visit.
-----------------------------------------
Strangely Carya was elated as she stood on the bridge in front of the ginormous castle she had ported too. She felt the magical barrier shake at her presence but allowed her entry. The castle was ancient , sentient in ways that Carya couldn't explain but showed her gratitude as she gracefully strolled towards the front doors. With a soft smile she placed a gentle hand upon them as they swung open. She desperately tried to hide her excitement and awestruck by it all. This wasn't a social visit she was here to settle the accusations against their blood and demand justice on their behalf. Nani made it very clear that these mortals would not be allowed to sweep this away.
Nani felt it , knew her Youngling was fading from life. That morning was the first in a long time that Carya saw Nani's normal emotionless expression turn to full panic. Thatcher traveled far pushing themselves to exhaustion to reach their home. He was requested to deliver the scroll he gripped in his claw that was written by Head Auror explaining what had happened. This is what brought Carya to the steps of Hogwarts. The fae followed their own rulings and laws outside the realm of mortals but Carya made sure to look into great detail of the wix ways to. She would make sure Davos would be rectified. They weren't going to turn a blind eye from this. The mortals made many promises and will be held to their word.
She schooled her expression to a more stoic Nani vibe doing her best to look diplomatic. Looking herself over she made sure all her glamours were in place. She left her alluring yellow eyes and long light wavy green hair visible . She wouldn't allow the comforts of mortals to change much more of her appearance. Carya even went to the goblin village to request the most suitable attire to blend in. Moments roaming about the corridors was she finally greeted by Aurors did she feel out of place . Holding her head up high she wouldn't let this hold her back. In the uncomfortable silence they walked towards this so called Headmaster's office with surprisingly empty hallways. Auror Finley gave her a look unsure how to go about all of it, " This isn't going to be like your ways , I'm not sure how much you know of the Wix world but." Carya rudely interrupted him , " I know enough ."
Stopping in front of a statue Mr Finley spoke the password making the stairwell gargoyle start to move. With each step her heart pounded as Carya breathed in deep trying to prepare herself. The door creaked open to the scene of a very outraged man yelling at the assuming to be Headmaster. Auror Finley loudly cleared his throat diffusing the escalation, " The Heir of the House of Nethrs has arrived Headmaster, let's get this started shall we." The annoyance in his tone spoke volumes. Slowly the older man sat back down next to his assuming mate scowling at Carya. Their utter disrespect shown towards her she could not help but give back the same expression. In one swift motion Davos lifted from their chair rushing to her giving Carya the deepest bow of reverence. Speaking in their native tounge Davos poured out their longing,
" Silence ", she spoke in English ,"This will not be ignored. She will pay for her malicious aggression. You know very well the order of things." Davos lifted from their bow taking a step back unable to argue any type of defense for Ophelia. " This child is only the Heir not the head of her house. We will not allow you to slander our name for a simple squabble between children." The elder man scoffed waving off the situation completely when Carya let her anger explode , " How dare you, how dare you call what happened to my kin a mere squabble. Your daughter almost killed my kin for such as you stated a childish argument.
I'm here on behalf of our mother to seek justice. She is to ill to travel and you will show me proper respect regardless of age and position."
" The incident has left everyone in high emotions. This is not an easy situation and I plan on rectifying the incident Miss Nethrs. What happened is not fully clear and the ones who have witnessed it have little to say not seeing the whole confrontation. Our staff along with prefects have been thoroughly interrogated on the matter." The Headmaster quickly spoke to diffuse the situation. Clearing her voice Carya spoke sternly, "Miss Bhimani was the one who casted the fatal curse was she not? By the ways of elder magic and disrespect of our bloodline we demand retribution for this slight against our house. She will willingly give a drop of blood and magic or I shall claim her wand breaking it myself if you do not agree." Carya made sure to keep her tone emotionless burning a hole with her eyes into the fuming mother." That is completely barbaric! We will not allow it !" Mrs. Bhimani rage filled the room cracking glass around her. Auror Finley huffed in fustration, " That is a very old decree from another time but I can't deny that it is still valid. Even the Ministry would have a hard time dismissing the rule of law no matter how ancient, Mr. Bhimani. "
In their shock there was truly no rebuttal from anyone to continue, allowing the Headmaster to command the room," "As you wish Mr. Nethrs. Ms. Bhimani will be suspended till further notice or if the Nethrs Family change their minds on the matter. Mr. And Mrs. Bhimani , you will be hearing for me and the Aurors once an agreement has been settled upon." Snarling with pure venom in his tone," You most definitely will, Longbottom." The two of them made their way towards the fireplace leaving in flames of green. With that Carya rushed down each step trying to catch up to Davos. She couldn't let them deal with all of this alone. Making it on to the final step Davos was no where to be found. Closing her eyes she placed her hand on the cold stone wall whispering for guidence. Feeling the pulse of the gently moving bricks she found Davos curled up enduring their emotions as sparks of dark magic flowed from them. Slow and carefully she sat next to them. Their overwhelming heavy magic felt crushing but that didn't stop her from cradling them in her arms. In their tounge Carya whispered the loving words she hoped would give them comfort,
" Thank you.... Out of all of this I'm so grateful you're here..... " Carya hid them away from the world feeling Davos shaking as they silently sobbed against her chest. The dark wisps of their magic spread out swirling around them making Carya flinch in fear but held tight. She knew how much Ophelia mean't to them and being betrayed in this way was devastating. "You aren't alone, it may take a long time to heal but you will." Carya kissed the top of their head. This wasn't over but for now Carya would help build Davos back up.
