new ffxiv PLL is really crazy bc it’s a lot of good stuff and then beastmaster is a solo oriented job and we’re not getting blue mage content this expac. yoshida what kind of fucking crack are you smoking?

putting my thoughts down a little bit more because i'm kind of incoherent since i'm just now waking up for work: i'll obviously need to see more of beastmaster before i can fully comment on this but preliminary thoughts 1. it sounds more and more like squenix doesnt consider a pet job to be something they can make work within the standard format of fights that the game has stuck to since uh. really, stormblood? i dont really like that very much as someone who really is still praying for a summoner prework or like, dragoon to get some of its FFXI functionality someday. i think it kind of just bums me out at a baseline that something that almost every MMO has as playable standard classes or specs is relegated to being a solo gimmick game mode in FFXIV 2. i understand that they do not want to exclude solo players from playing ffxiv like i really do get it but i feel like prioritizing an update that, as theyve said, is designed to be able to be done entirely solo is just... like, weird? i love BLU because BLU was a big community event when it got updated, like suddenly you'd see PFs for weeks and weeks of like, all BLU trials, raids, dungeons, etc, and the experience of getting to participate in this big cooperative shitpost mode where you're putting together your fucked up yugioh deck of spells was really cool and fun, and there were also just some little quirks like the fact that some people had some ever so slight variations in their BLU setups... 3. only level 50... cannot stress enough what a bummer this is unless it's gonna get updated in intervals of like 20 at a time. i don't even think i necessarily needed more creatures but just spitballing, having it go from like, 50-100 and having 10 creatures in each expac with each expac having like a cool milestone creature (behemoth in ARR, maybe the kamuy of the nine tails for stormblood? etc). but oh my god the thought of a job that literally only exists in a realm reborn content for like, at least a year or two is rough.
