JANUARY 13TH

This date will always be a part of my life. January 13th, 2012 was the day my life drastically changed. Since then, I have been dealing with major anxiety attacks, shame, fear and PTSD.

January 13th was always a dreadful day for me since then. I kept this day for myself and dealt with it on my own. But then January 13th, 2020 came by and this time I decided to really fight. It was an even worst day because I started talking about this day to my therapist and that night back in 2012 felt even more real. But for the first time I was not alone, and I was listened and believed.

Today, January 13th, 2021, my friends were there for me, because I managed to open up about that night back in 2012. And they listened and supported me. And I learnt to live with PTSD and flashbacks and kept living and be happy.

This song was played in Grand Army, and this show told my story with Joey, and I felt represented. And it helped me keep fighting even more. This year’s January 13th is not about me being scared and ashamed, it is now about me being strong. And I am so proud of myself and I hope people living the same story will feel this one day too, because you finally get to realize that you are a powerful person.
