No idea what this plant is. My wife planted it as an accent around one of her pot plants in the courtyard. It's a nice pop of colour coming into Autumn and Winter, and even the leaves have some cool patterns.

Pink flowering gum.
At a Japanese Car meet and spotted these.
They were much louder before I grabbed the camera out.
Rainbow Lorikeets are enjoying the last figs of the season.
the fact that AA/NA, an abstinence-only, deeply religious, non evidence supported model based off writings from the 1930s, is seen as the first, only, and mandatory form of treatment for problematic/dangerous drug use is insane and ridiculous and i hate it and i hate how normalized and institutionalized AA is. people have to choose between AA or jail, AA or not having custody of their kids, AA or not getting welfare it's embarassing that the war on drugs and drug use has gone on this long with so much evidence against it
I have un-netted the fig tree, and the lorikeets (and fruitbats) are loving it.

Crucifix orchid has bloomed! We actually have 3 different ones, but this is the first of any of them we've had flower.
Rainbow Lorikeets in the fig tree. We've harvested maybe half of the fruit this season, and other than making some jam I'll be happy to take the net off and let the wildlife have their share (they get plenty anyway).
Ideas for your garden
curved paths and stepping stones
miniature pond (if possible)
birdbaths, bird houses, large pots
lighting like lanterns, garden lights, solar powered lighting
Plant pollinator-friendly species
Install a bee hotel
Leave a “wild corner” for beneficial insects
Use succession planting to keep harvests coming
Install drip irrigation for efficiency
Use raised beds for better drainage and fewer weeds
Collect rainwater in barrels
Reuse pots, containers, and old materials
Compost everything possible.
Daily pest removal / checking
Plant trees and herbs good for pollinators
Add new plants or seeds as gaps appear
Review plant layout and note what’s thriving or struggling
Deep clean greenhouse or shed
Inspect fences, trellises, and raised beds for repair.
Start all early seedlings indoors or in a shed, so they do not get picked off too easily.
Harvest vegetables regularly
Add shade cloth if necessary
Use row covers to protect against insects and frost
Add garden “rooms” or zones for different experiences
Introduce vertical elements--- trellises, arches, hanging baskets, or vines
Add a focal point
Plant native wildflowers to attract local pollinators
Install butterfly houses
Grow fruiting shrubs or trees to support wildlife year-round
Leave a small “wild area” for biodiversity. logs, leaf piles, and native grasses
Avoid pesticides; use neem oil, soap sprays, or companion planting instead
Set up bird feeders and nesting boxes
Create a "bog garden" part or section for frogs, dragonflies, and birds
Plant a living hedge instead of fencing
Save your own seeds from heirloom varieties.
Build a seating nook or hammock spot in a shaded area.
fragrant plants (lavender, rosemary), textured foliage, wind chimes add some sensory
Install a small greenhouse or cold frame for early starts
Incorporate art like mosaics, painted rocks, garden mirrors
Set up compost and recycling zones neatly for visual harmony
Invite friends or kids to help, which makes gardening social and fun
Add chickens or ducks (if allowed) for pest control and compost input.
Bonus:
Monthly garden journal: note weather, plant success/failures, pests, harvest totals.
Photo log: take one photo of each garden section monthly.
Goal setting: each season, choose 1–2 improvement goals to work towards.
Label all plants properly: remember varieties
Join local garden clubs or online forums
Use garden planning software or apps to map beds and crop rotation
Read books on permaculture or regenerative gardening
Take workshops on composting, pruning, or organic pest control
Label plants with QR codes linking to your notes or care guides.
Use shelving or vertical racks for seed trays and tools.
Definitely stealing some of these ideas
Visited the Garden of St Earth in Blackwood today. Beautiful display of dahlias bordering the food forest.
The jade plant out the front is flowering!
I've never had a jade plant flower before. The flowers are tiny, but pretty and their pink contrasts really nicely against the green and red of the foliage.

Dahlia. This beauty is the size of my head and still not fully opened.
Agastiche "Apricot Sprite"
It was breezy and I couldn't for the life of me get a better shot. Sorry you can't see more detail, but at least the colour is there.
Butterflies love these and they add a beautiful warm pop of colour amongst what is predominantly pinks, purples, blues.
Achilles. Dunno what variety. I know it's not the orange 'terracotta' from the herb garden or the deep red 'rossen wine' from the orchard. Beautiful shades of pink though.
Pink Gladioli.
I stumbled on these in the orchard and was very pleasantly surprised. I've put in so many bulbs and corms over the years that I no longer remember exactly what is what or where they are.
Eerily quiet here. We're in the middle of 3 distinct bushfires, none yet under control with winds gusting to 110kmph and temps of 43°C.
(that's about 60mph and 105ish in freedumb units).
Just keeping an eye out for embers.

Native everlasting daisies. I love how vibrant these are, they're loving the heat we've been having.
update on the grapes: looking good.
