Honey has court today
Don't want to say too  much on the internet but, I have to update because I'm anxious. Most likely nothing much will happen, except for possibly increased visitation...
I just love her so much. I want her to stay with us.

It's been awhile
I haven't been very good with keeping tumblr updated. I always think of things I'd like to share, but never take the time to do it! So, here goes - I cannot believe how much Honey has grown over the past month. Not so much physically but developmentally. I loooooove this stage. Its gotten a little more difficult as a parent because she was such a good, calm and relaxed baby and now she's a bit more active and requiring more entertainment. However seeing her explore and interact with her surroundings is so beautiful. I LOVE her personality. I can already say she's "fun-loving." She was almost three months premature so she's still somewhat behind in meeting certain milestones but in the past month we've seen her become much more mobile (not crawling yet, but almost!). She will kind of roll and inch worm around the room to get around. I'll have to post a picture of this and explain it in more detail because it's so cute. She has also just within the past couple weeks become much better at sitting up on her own. She's almost completely stable sitting by herself and I've started feeding her baby food without giving her any support. Also I'd say in just the past week we've been hearing a lot more baby noises and sounds. I think she'll be speaking before she walks. Not much has developed with her case. She has visits two days a week and her parents have been attending. We pretty much have no interaction with her family. I'd like to change that, but at the same time I feel like maybe I should "leave well enough alone." I don't know. I think I'll be writing her mom a letter soon. I just have this feeling that her case is going toward reunification. I know I should be happy for her family, but the day Honey leaves us is the day my heart will be ripped from my chest. It makes me tear up even thinking about it. So I just try not to. I'm trying to trust God with his plan for Honey's life and ours. It's easier said than done. Prayers are appreciated! Well, that's all the update I have for now. I must get back to the work day.

First tooth!
We noticed this past weekend that Honey is breaking in her first tooth! That little thing is sharp! I had a feeling it would be coming when I went to get her from her bed one morning last week and there was slobber ALL OVER.Â
We need to invest in some more warm PJs for her. Our house is already freezing and its just the beginning of fall! I love shopping for baby clothes, it's just a matter of finding the time to do it.Â

This is a serious question for any of you foster parents out there that have encouragement or advice…
I’m not a foster parent, but maybe the parents will still let you see her? Maybe you could offer to be a baby sitter or something along those lines, that way you won’t fully lose her.

This is a serious question for any of you foster parents out there that have encouragement or advice...
Consistency - I'm working on it.
To generalize - I need to be more consistent. There are SO MANY areas of my life in which I could use (re: NEED) consistency. It's one thing to know I need this and another to actually be disciplined and do it. Here are some examples of ways in which I need to be more consistent:
Budgeting. I actually enjoy budgeting (not sure why) but making sure it's actually done at the beginning of each month is another issue.
Eating healthy - Some days I do so well, others I completely fail.
Daily devotions - Honesty, can't remember the last time I sat down in quiet and spent some much needed time reading God's word.
And the point of this post - I need to be more consistent with blogging/updating this tumblr.
I wanted to write a new post so I can use it to update people on how things are going with our life as foster parents. When I logged in to write the said update, I started scrolling through my older posts and realized how nice it was to have some documentation of our lives these past few months. Things I don't even remember well (like sleepless nights when Honey first came) were recalled, and it was enjoyable to think back on certain events.Â
So, with that said I am making it my goal for the next 4 months (to the end of the year) to update this page at least twice a month. No, not to just re-blog something or share a link but to actually use my words and write a blog post.
Not only do I plan to use this as a tool for keeping others up to date on happenings with our foster family, but also to advocate and most importantly - share stories. Through being a foster parent and working with young adults that have aged out of the system, I have a lot of stories and insight to the foster care system. This is a world many people know little about.Â
I also follow many other foster parent tumblr users, so it's a great way to support other foster parents and find people you can relate to over the "bloggersphere."
So, whether you're here to stay updated in a more personal sense, or you're looking for stories you can relate to, or you would like to gain some more insight into the foster care system - I promise you'll be seeing more content in the coming months and I hope you enjoy it!

I was riding home on the bus with my brother, and I was so excited about meeting my friend later at the YMCA. But when we got home, all of our stuff was packed into boxes. My dad was sitting on the stairwell, crying. He wouldn’t tell us what was going on. He just told us that we had to leave. For the first couple years of foster care, he’d tell us every week that he was about to come get us. After awhile we stopped believing him.”
Pretty much hear similar stories every week from the clients I work with.
