Hopefully you, our much loved community, know that our commitment is always to prioritising our animals and our people.
It is because of this that we made a decision last night to gently pause our surrender applications process for a time.
This decision was not made lightly and will be reviewed frequently until we have the capacity to resume the surrender program.u
The reality is that we are at capacity for the volunteers and resources we have available at this time. Taking on further rats would run the risk of jeaporadising care which is an intolerable risk for us.
Our hope... is that by pausing surrender applications we can focus our attention on encouraging adoption of the wonderful residents we have who are seeking their furever home.
Our hope... is that by pausing surrenders, we can continue to build our critical team of volunteers who make all that we do possible.
Our hope... is that as a free and volunteer run service - the community at large will accept, respect and maybe even understand this decision and that we do not receive difficult and distressing emails from people who what us to take their animal now.
If your application is ALREADY with us, we will continue to work with you to finalise your surrender after Easter (COVID permitting). We simply will not accept further applications to surrender at this time.
We will not be offering a surrender waitlist service.
You will all be the first to know when we resume our surrender program
- If you can, continue taking care of your pet until we re-open to surrenders.
- If you need more urgent assistance you can contact RSPCA.
- Please ensure you provide your pet with the ongoing veterinary care it needs until you are able to safely rehome it.
- Please consider the risk of "free to a good home" posts/ads as pets given away in this manner often become reptile food or bait.
- If you choose to rehome privately, we encourage you to use the questions in our adoption form to assist you in determining where your pets go.
Help us press play by adopting and encouraging adoptions from the Rescue!
Thank you for your understanding and support.
