Ford have announced a connected cycle movement to better aid the understanding of non-powered transport movement.
Seat and Samsung's attempt at the connected car including a gestural based interface. A nice attempt but installing proprietary hardware in cars feels like we're moving backwards
Babolat's BTLE enabled tennis racquet allows athletes to track their training and game performance. With historic and community elements a vital asset to monitor improvement. Nadal uses one himself!
Intelβs latest RealSense technology now available as an sdk for Windows and Android. This Augmented Reality demonstration looks novelty but is a huge leap forward in facial tracking.

5g is being talked about, a lot. Most of the world will still be on 3G by 2020.
Docomo are looking to divorce your sim from your devices, Nfc allows you to connect to different ones with a tap. No sim in the device - its worn around your neck! An interesting model as phone innovation fatigued people start to focus on SIMs and contracts.
Kantar helping us understand how geolocation data was being fused with known location data to infer profiles from user behaviours - where they go, how often, for how long. SAP then explained to us how they have digital, physical and panel based data (basically everything available) integrated into one platform. Updated hourly!
Haptic feedback seems to be everywhere. This navigation device from Japanese mobile company Docomo uses vibrations and movement to let you know when to turn left and right. Will the Apple Watch will take haptic feedback to new levels. Very interesting question for UX - what does your brand feel like? Harsh vibrations for health apps, versus subtle ones for luxury?
As promised a video of this gestural based installation

Interesting example from ARM showing how a screen can be placed on top of your fashionable (or not) wristwatch rather than be the watch itself. A good compromise?
Wearables. Again. As a self diagnosed quantified self addict, I still believe the best wearables are the ones specifically focussed on sport and fitness. The vivoactive from Garmin is a great example.
It would be rude not to! Networking Barcelona style.
We love this gesture based interactive flipboard. A very clever use of technology. Old meets new. Video to follow.
I'm really interested in indoor location based technology, especially the implementation at events. MWC is halfway there but asking me to turn left when the booth I was looking for was to the right was a clear fail.

Really interesting to see Vodafone partnering with Panasonic with the launch of the Nubu home security device running over 4G m2m networks. Data isn't charged by bandwidth used but the amount of request you make to view security footage.
Hanging out with Zuckerberg
... well not quite! We managed to watch his keynote on a big screen outside of the conference.
Whilst Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook are still on a mission to connect the poorest billion people in the world to the internet, he spent his time at MWC praising the telcos for providing the infrastructure to connect the rest of the world. Β There's a hot debate about brands like Facebook and Google providing free OTT messaging services and making revenue through ad-services whilst the telcos lose their traditional income from SMS.
