Here's a source for the analysis, but it probably is not the source.
Workersâ share of US economic output has fallen to its lowest level since the government began keeping records in 1947, according to data th
Some points of interest:
Corporate profits are soaring. After taxes, they now take 12.3 percent of national output, far above their postwar average of 7.3 percent.
Adjusted for inflation, hourly wages have risen 3 percent since the end of 2019, Ip noted. Corporate profits over the same period have risen 50 percent.
The Economic Policy Institute calculates that since 1979 the productivity of American workers has grown 90 percent while the pay of the typical worker has grown 33 percent. Had wages tracked output, the average worker would earn $16.40 more an hour today.
The profits are concentrated among the largest corporations. Earnings at the 500 biggest US firms rose 28 percent in the first quarter from a year earlier, the fastest pace since 2021, and their profit margins reached 14.8 percent. The seven technology giants known as the âMagnificent 7ââApple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta and Teslaâgrew their profits 63 percent.
In the United States, the richest 1 percent of households hold 31.7 percent of all wealth. The bottom half hold barely 2.5 percent.

Found a great (free) documentary on the Freedom House Ambulance Service here- https://www.wqed.org/freedomhouse/ (has captions too)!
I canât believe this is the first time Iâve heard about this. like for years Iâve been thinking âimagine if the police were in charge of ambulances and firefighting, all the horrible problems that would cause, wouldnât it be better if they were a separate thing, etcâ as a way to better understand/explain the fundamental problems with the existence of police. that framing was part of what made me start to understand why my friends were saying âACABâ and âabolish the policeâ. I had no idea it was literally once historically like that and not just a hypothetical tbh
Interview with one of the original members of Freedom House Ambulance
This is cool as shit, and a part of my own careerâs history that I didnât even know about.

Rachel HurleyÂ
Iâve watched all of the videos dozens of times - hereâs what happened.
A 37-year-old ICU nurse named Alex Pretti helped a woman that federal agents had shoved. For this crime - helping someone - several agents sprayed pepper spray into his face - then they beat him until he collapsed. They pistol whipped him while he was on his knees. Both hands on the ground. Not resisting. Just existing.
They took his gun from his back waistband - he never touched it - but he had a legal permit to carry. The Second Amendment one. The constitutional right one.
And then they shot him.
After he was already down, already gone, they shot him nine more times. Nine. I want you to picture that. A man on the ground, motionless, and nine more bullets.
This is the same government that told us he was a âcriminal illegal alien with a string of violent offenses.â He was an American citizen. He was a nurse who worked in the ICU at the VA - the guy who takes care of your grandfather who served in Vietnam, your uncle who came back from Iraq. His criminal record was traffic tickets.
They lied. They executed him in broad daylight on an American street. And then they lied about who he was to make you feel okay about it.
This is the third shooting by federal agents in Minneapolis in three weeks. Three weeks. Three people. One was a woman named RenĂŠe Good. One was a Venezuelan man shot in the leg. And now Alex Pretti, American citizen, legal gun owner, VA nurse who spent his days caring for veterans, dead on the pavement at 26th and Nicollet because he tried to help someone.
The same government that wraps itself in âsupport our troopsâ shot the guy who actually supported our troops. Nine times. While he was on the ground.
Thatâs the truth - donât believe any of the Trump Adminâs lies about what happened.
