Throwback Thanksgiving. Today and every day, I am thankful that I am here, able to be a part of my family and friends' lives. No money or possessions in the world could ever compare to the experiences I've had over the past many years. My friends from high school, college, Paris, Canada and here in Los Angeles became family when we shared dorms, homes, meals, tears and laughs. My family has always been a source of support, even when we don't agree on the same point of view. My daughters @tesssking and @serafina.king may never quite know the depths of the love that I have for them. But, I will always be grateful that I was lucky enough to be your mother. To anyone who reads this, know that each night I pray for peace, for all of us in this crazy world. Love, that we may all find the courage to love ourselves and each other. I usually have a dog in the back seat, but not this dog (sorry Haisley). Yesterday it was my privilege to spend the morning with @bradsnyderusa and @gizzythedogusa Talk about the most awesome guy, Brad is a legit hero, and one of the nicest guys around. He swam at the pool during Serafina's morning workout. Brad lost his vision while serving in Iraq, and won gold as a Paralympic swimmer at the 2012 London Games exactly a year after the accident. Gizzy is his spectacularly fluffy guide dog. Spending time with a working guide dog, after being a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs of America was humbling. Out of her harness, Gizzy tolerated my cuddling and kissed my face a few times. I'm pretty sure we're best friends now. I'm so blessed to have these incredible experiences with Serafina's teammates. #teamusa #paralympicswimming #guidedog #blackandwhite

Regardless of where we are in the world, we are all formed the same way. Carried in our mother's womb, then birthed in really only 1 of 2 ways. We were all babies, we were all our mother's baby. As unique as we all are, we are all essentially the same. As much as we are different we at more so all the same. Around the world there is too much suffering and grief. In every nook and cranny of this big blue marble, there is someone weeping from loss and destruction. People are what matter most in our time here. I don't know how as a collective nation, of worldly humans, we can change from a collective culture of hate and destruction to one of love.
