Imagine your mother, your sister, your daughter or even your wife going to a foreign country where she does not speak the language with barely any money with her and no place to sleep? This is what OUR sister is going through today. Umm Sameeh was introduced to us through a teacher who was her translator at a public school after she tried to register her children. After a brief talk, the teacher realized her situation and tried to see if there is anyone out there that can help this poor family. Without going into personal details, Umm Sameeh ex-husband left them back home in Palestine with no money, income or any form of resources. She gathered whatever she had left and came to NYC to try and establish a better life for her children. Her ONLY concern is her kids. As a mother, she wants the BEST for them and she made a HUGE sacrifice to try and provide for them some sort of stability. Alhamdullilah, she is currently living in an apartment for free due to the generous action of a brother who owns the building. But she is there with absolutely no furniture or anything in that matter. They have one OLD & USED mattress that they sleep in. Imagine 4 people sleeping in one old mattress on the floor sharing the same blanket? As Muslims, we are taught to love for others what we LOVE for ourselves. We believe we can TRANSFORM her life and her kids with this project. Below is our plan of action: We want to raise $5,750 for the following: 1 year of Electrcity/Gas= $900 1 year of cell phone service= $600 1 year of basic internet service= $ 450 (for her kids to use for school) New furniture for apartment = $ 3,000 School supplies for all kids = $ 200 New clothes for all family members = $600 Any amount over our goal will be used to get other esstenial items for the apartment (Blankets, towels, cleaning supplies, toiletries etc...) She currently resides in Brooklyn near our Masjid and we will make sure she receives food every week to feed her children. But we CAN'T do this alone without YOUR help!
