Your clinical coach is not always right. If you know what to do, just shut up and do it when you are already on your own. And if you still don't know what you're doing after they throw you under the bus, ask someone for help.

When getting report, always stay skeptical (but not in a way that it shows on your face).

Don't ask questions like "Did you turn the patient? Did you teach the patient the IS?" or anything that starts with Did you. Ask questions that doesn't make the nurse feel incompetent even if you know they are.

If ER nurses incessantly call you to give report right at shift change while you still haven't gotten report from your patients who are already on the floor, put them on hold in a friendly manner because that is just plain rude and ER nurses should know that.

And they didn't call you all night.
