âMaybeâ, Lux gave back with a crooked smile to keep up the mock suspense.
âIf he can make himself useful. We can always use an extra pair of hands. Towels need to be washed, dishes have to be done, guests to be served, errants to be run, tubs to be cleaned, yurts to be set up, repaired and packed up again⌠he would never find himself bored.â
Perhaps it was foolish of him to make such promises without prior consultation of his friends. While he did not expect any of them to reject the idea of a temporary addition to their team, it would have been the only sensible thing to do. Then again, Lux found himself in much too high of spirits to worry about such techniqualities tonight. Anything to wipe that earlier unpleasant encounter from his mind.
âOnly thing I wonderâŚâ, he hummed after another sip from his drink, ââŚwould the king trust a colourful band of travelling folks like us to take in a precious successor of his line?â
Commoner work, thatâs what he would be doing.
And it sounded like the most wonderful way to spend to spend his days while finally traveling around the lands like he had longed for. The mere thought of switching long lessons, visits at the mines and meetings that would last for hours to washing towels, socializing with different people and catering for other peoples needs instead of being fawned over because of his title sounded absolutely perfect and refreshing.
âTrust me, I can learn any job youâll throw at me,â Kili grinned, the excitement making his heart flutter and he flagged over two more tankards for them. âAs for the king, Iâm sure heâll see how beneficial this is for everyone and Iâm positive heâs happy that I would be traveling with other people instead of embarking on the journey on my own.â
Especially after what had happened that night.
âSure, he wonât be jumping with joy but he also knows that one day Iâd find a way to leave anyway; to him, this would be the safest option.â
The dwarf rested his elbow against the table, blowing a stray curl from his face.
âHowever, are you sure it would be alright with the rest of your company? My start with one of your people was a bit rocky at best,â he pointed out with a small wince. To be fair, he hadnât expected to meet a dragon person when he had stepped into that tent but that didnât excuse his wary behavior.
