- as mentioned previously haru's currently the captain of a pretty sizable pirate vessel, but before that, he was an official in the royal navy

- upon realizing that he was hurting innocent people by doing whatever his superiors told him to do, he decided to split

- however, his initial escape wasn't... quite as clean as he'd hoped it would be

- stranded as the only survivor of a massive shipwreck, he found himself deserted on a tiny spit of land in the middle of nowhere, barely alive and stricken with the weight of what he's done

- ...............cue the emergence of a certain merfolk

- long story short: as it stands currently, haru is still fully human! no merfolk ancestry and no immortality, no blessings or curses; however, he has made a certain trade for something 👀

- his attitude towards merfolk is incredibly disinterested which is kind of funny in contrast to everybody else's in this au sgdhkfjhkjds

- he's respectful to them whenever they show up alongside his ship (named the Ex Libra) and he's even made friends among them! however whenever yet another of his crew reveals that they have ~Ancestral Connections to the Merfolk Ooooh~ he's very like "oh okay. anyway what do you guys want to have for dinner"
