In Korean, the verb ‘to wear’ is different depending on the section of the body the item is worn on. Here are some examples:

입다: for 옷 (clothes) such as 스웨터, 치마, 드레스 (sweater, skirt, dress)

신다: for things you wear on your feet such as 신발, 양말 (shoes, socks)

쓰다: for items you wear on your head such as 모자, 안경 (hat, glasses)

매다: for things you tie or fasten such as 신발 끈, 넥타이 (shoelaces, neckties)

메다: for items you sling over/wear on you shoulder, like 가방, 배낭 (bag, backpack)

끼다: for things you wear on your hands or fingers, for example 반지, 장갑 (ring, gloves)

So you’re still texting those Korean friends and you’re comfortable now, let’s get a little bit lazy. To write as fast as possible in Korean you gotta use those consonants (except ㅗ), LETS GO!

ㄱㅊ - 괜찮(괜찮아) > It’s okay ㄱㄷ - 기달(기다려) > Wait ㄱㅇㄷ - 개이득 > F***ing lucky / SCORE ㄱㄱ / ㄱㄱㅅ - 고고/고고싱 > Go Go ㄴㄴ - 노노 > No no ㅇㄱㄹㅇ / 일겅 - 이거레알 > Too true (this is real) ㅇㅈ - 인정 > Right / Definitely (often both a question and answer) ㅊㅋ - 추카(축하해) > Congratulations ㄷㄷ - 덜덜 > Shiver ㅇㅇ - 응응 > Yep yep ㅂㅂ - 바이바이 > Bye bye ㅁㅊ - 미친 > Crazy ㅇㄷ - 어디 > Where are you? ㅇㅎ - 아하 > A-ha! ㅗ - 엿먹어 > Middle finger  ㅎㅇ - 하이 > Hai (hi) ㅈㄲ - 잠깐 (잠깐만) > Wait ㄱㅅ - 감사 (감사합니다/고마워) > Thanks ㅇㅋㅇㅋ > Ok ok! (agreeing excitedly)

拷制 (kǎozhì) to roast

IT WAS KING SEJONG, WHO ORDERED HIS ROYAL SCHOLARS TO CREATE THIS ALPHABET SO READING AND WRITING COULD BE ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE, EVEN THE PEASANTS. IT WAS PURPOSELY DESIGNED TO BE EASY TO LEARN.

SO SHOUT OUT TO KING SEJONG, WHO REALIZED BEFORE MANY OTHERS THE IMPORTANCE OF UNIVERSAL LITERACY.

They’re all just different versions of the word but. 그러나, is rarely used in speech. 그렇지만 and 그런데 (shortened ver. is 근데) are usually used before a rebuttal. So if you were to say “But this is better.” In Korean it would be “그렇지만 저게 더 좋잖아(요).” Or “그런데 (근데) 저게 더 좋잖아요.”. 하지만 is more commonly used in speech than 그러나 but otherwise it’s the same.

But none of the four are used that commonly but the shortened version; 근데 is used more commonly and often than the other four. But 근데 is usually used when you are speaking in banmal! The other four are more commonly used with honorifics! :)

하지만 빨간 모자는 계속 꽃을 찾아 다녔습니다. 그녀가 더 가져갈 수 없을 만큼 꽃을 모은 후에야, 할머니가 생각나서 할머니 댁으로 향하기 시작했습니다. 빨간 모자가 할머니 댁에 도착했을 때, 문이 열려 있어서 놀랐습니다. 할머니 방으로 들어갔을 때, 모든 것이 너무 이상해서 빨간 모자는 생각했습니다. ‘맙소사. 내가 왜 이렇게 무서워하지? 나는 할머니 댁에 있는 것을 좋아하잖아!’ 빨간 모자가 말했습니다. “안녕하세요.” 하지만 대답은 듣지 못했습니다. 빨간 모자가 할머니 침대로 다가가서 커튼을 젖혔습니다. 거기에 할머니가 두건을 깊게 눌러쓰고 누워있었고 매우 이상해 보였습니다.

~ This sentence is translated weirdly, but essentially it means: Grandmother was laying there, and she looked very strange / weird - 거기에 할머니가 두건을 깊게 눌러쓰고 누워있었고 매우 이상해 보였습니다.

빨간: “아, 할머니, 귀가 정말 크시네요!” 늑대: “내가 너의 목소리를 더 잘 듣기 위해서란다!” 빨간: “아, 할머니, 눈이 정말 크시네요!” 늑대: “내가 너를 더 잘 보기 위해서란다!” 빨간: “아, 할머니, 손이 정말 크시네요!” 늑대: “내가 너를 더 잘 잡기 위해서란다!” 빨간: “하지만, 할머니, 무서울 만큼 큰 입을 가지셨네요!” 늑대: “내가 너를 더 잘 잡아먹기 위해서란다!” 늑대가 그것을 말하자마자 침대에서 뛰어나와 그 불쌍한 빨간 모자를 잡아먹었습니다.

Hey! I’ve actually never seen 누두 used as ‘shoe’ before - haha frankly I’ve never seen the word until now. There’s no translation for it that means ‘shoe’ so 신발 is the correct term for [a pair of] shoes! Thank you for the ask :)

its time to step the fuck up and really understand that nonbinary looks like anybody. nonbinary looks like you. nonbinary looks like your family and friends and it looks like the strangers who you thoughtlessly call “he” or “she” because of their appearance.

really supporting nonbinary people means understanding that theres no visual tell - you wont recognise all of us as nonbinary on sight. you have to actually LISTEN to us. you have to BELIEVE us. and it means challenging your assumptions about gender, starting with the assumption that youre an ally to trans people while youre still doing puerile shit like gendering body parts and clothes.
