So some fanartist drew a “sexy” (read: booby) version of a (cartoon) character who is traditionally very non-sexualised. Fans of the character got mad about it because it’s kind of groundbreaking how that character is written and portrayed and this art totally ignores the entire point of the character. They demanded the art be deleted. In response to that other people said, well what the fanartist did may be distateful but they have every right to draw what they’re into. The two sides fight for days and each starts a harassment campaign and even report their “opponents’” accounts.

So far so typical. But things eventually come to a head and they decide that this will be settled by votes - not through a poll. Through donations to a children’s education charity via each side’s portal. Whoever can get the highest amount of donation wins.

2026:

Magnus has been hit by a curse or something that has erased his memory of the past 50 years or so (or whatever interval). He's understandably wary of this Shadowhunter who claims to be his husband. Cat he knows and trusts, so he feels safe with her, but she's working on undoing the curse/restoring his memory so can't stay with him.

So she hands him a black cat and tells him his name is Darling and he can keep Magnus company while she works this out.

Alec feels little bad for deceiving Magnus in this way but also knows that once Magnus does have his memory restored he won't mind. And in the meantime, he gets to help keep Magnus comfortable and calm.

I can so imagine Magnus warily looking at Alec from across the room with Cat, Ragnor and Izzy in the middle mediating this mess after Magnus finally woke up from the curse he was hit with during a battle a few days ago. It's so insane, like no way is he MARRIED to a SHADOWHUNTER, but Ragnor and Cat are so sure and the Shadowhunter is so his type aside from the runes and, even more painfully, the emotions in his eyes are something Magnus can't just dismiss. Ultimately, he comes to believe them that the year is 2018 and he's married to a Shadowhunter. Magnus is mostly okay, maybe just dealing with headaches, so he's really out on the research/experimental magic attempts. Ragnor and Cat say they have it, so he trusts them. They leave, Izzy leaves, it's just Magnus and his... his husband - that's a lot to handle

Alec of course wants to stay to take care of him but Magnus has to draw the line. He tries to be gentle about it but more or less tells Alec that he will not relax with him in the loft. Sorry, I just can't. Alec is crushed, trying to hide it, is mostly failing, and agrees. He asks if they can text every day to make sure Magnus is okay. Magnus agrees after Alec actually explains what that means. Alec goes to pack a bag and sees Chairman. A wild plan forms

(of course Magnus knows Chairman still though, his little companion is much older than 50)

He tells Magnus that they have another cat. That he's shy when lots of people are around but he'll come out once it quiets down. His name is Darling. This is the least crappy thing about the future anyone has told Magnus so far. He is very open to this other cat, although he asks how Darling and Chairman get along and Alec assures him that Chairman likes Darling a lot "Darling was willing to acknowledge Chairman's seniority so it all worked out great" He's got a weird smile on his face but whatever, new cat!

Alec leaves. Magnus waits for this cat to appear

And he does! He's black and skinny and he's got the most disorderly fur ever but Magnus instantly adores him. He sticks to Magnus like glue, comforts him when things get overwhelming, bullies him into bed when his head starts hurting, stands in the kitchen meowing which makes Magnus realize that he hasn't eaten in hours... He does mysteriously disappear sometimes but Magnus isn't used to carrying around a cell phone so he doesn't connect the cat's disappearances with Alec's texts. He's not keeping track of time with much dedication at all

The texts themselves are... interesting? Alec constantly offers to bring Magnus anything he might need as if he doesn't know that Magnus can magic it in? He tells Magnus to take it easy? He tells him that if anyone needs the High Warlock, he can reroute them to Alec and he'll do his best to help them so he can rest? That is insane?? IT WORKS? He sends someone annoying to Alec and they go without complaint, then they check in and tell him that everything went well. Why do his people accept his marriage??? Why are ugly clothes in his loft? Why are there so many pictures of them??? He keeps finding proof of their life together and it nearly makes him weep eventually because what the hell, how is everything he ever wanted in a relationship a Shadowhunter?

I don't know where it goes from here but I would genuinely enjoy writing this, lol. I have such a love for TWC 'verse, lol, it's so fun
