When the last members of her crew were in the water, Beckett must've given his soldiers a sign for she was then grabbed and dragged below deck once more where she was thrown behind bars, again. There, she finally got some water and bread. It helped swallowing her tears but the empty feeling inside her stomach remained.

For some reason, Beckett wanted her. Alive.

Perhaps because she was a woman pirate. Perhaps English people had never heard of such a thing and wanted to see her for themselves. The thought of being paraded around like some exotic animal gave her the chills. No, she'd rather hang. But could she also condemn her crew? Mary? Jack?

She had told them the Lord's offer as soon as they'd been locked up below deck.

“No way!” Mary had called out as soon as Anne was finished.

“You wanna be this posh bastard's bitch?”

“Hell, no!” Anne had barked back.

“I'd rather hang.”

Chapter 1: She's the captain

Anne closed her eyes against the setting sun. The rays were still warm and burned into the skin of her face relentlessly. Since she was tied up (again), she could not move from her spot towards the shadow. Next to her, Mary gave a heavy sigh. Anne had to stop herself from chiming in. They had been caught. Caught, in which had been a trap so obvious they had walked right into it. It was supposed to be an easy job, one last raid before they returned to Nassau for good, Jack had promised. But of course, in his never dying pride he had been too drunk to realise their target had been too easy. A small ship, likely delivering cargo back to Spain, way too far from the business routes. She shook her head. It didn't matter now. The soldiers of the East India Trading Company had surprised them and within the blink of an eye Anne had known they were outnumbered.
