Well maybe I don’t WANT to work double as hard as abled people!! Maybe I deserve a BREAK!! Maybe I’ve been working MORE THAN double as hard for MY WHOLE LIFE and it’s led me to immense burnout & caused me to develop several MORE disabilities!! Maybe I should be ACCOMMODATED so I don’t have to KILL MY BODY AND BRAIN over trying to do what abled people can do!! Maybe I DON’T have to work double as hard!! Maybe if there’s the option to let me NOT work double as hard, I should have it, because I’m already working double as hard JUST TO SURVIVE!!

I’m sure I’m not the only one to notice this but the wide brimmed hat that charon wears (a petasos) is often associated with hermes, often he’s depicted wearing one in various artworks

i'll be honest. If you can't deal with someone wording things badly then you aren't going to be an ally to autistic people or indeed anyone with a developmental disability, intellectual disability, or disability that impacts language.
also you are never going to be safe for people for whom english is their second language. if someone clarifies their meaning and apologises and you can't accept that over the original wording then don't bother pretending to be autism friendly.
and like part of my autism is that i become convinced that the way i interpret words is the way that they're meant. my autism is disabling to my communication abilities. i have poor emotional regulation, i jump to conclusions. a lot of my reactions are informed by prior negative experiences. i can and probably have been overly defensive in the past.
and i've been misinterpreted so much and had my words picked over and mocked for saying the wrong things and mocked for being unable to say anything at all and it always feels devastating. it's ironic that the same disability that has me treated poorly would have me react poorly to a similar situation, but that's just how it is.
so i'm not saying you can perfectly manage all your reactions just by trying hard enough. especially considering how much disability affects these things. but i do think if you are completely unwilling to give autistic and other DD/ID people leeway for how they word things or understand that they have a disability that impacts their communication and give us grace then you aren't a disability advocate.
this is one of many aspects where disability permeates everything and the concepts should be carried on for the abled world too. all people say things bad sometimes. that's actually i think kind of a nature of language, since words are not actually discrete categories with perfectly descriptive universally fixed meanings.
i think sometimes people forget that words are not an inherent thing to the world, we made them by using them and shaping them around use, they are clumsy and have lotssss of meanings, especially when put together. they are just our best attempts at waving around our ideas.
if you cannot get past misunderstandings or ppl saying things that are not whole representations of what they mean, you extremely cannot be an ally to ppl who struggle with your language, and you even cannot be an ally to people who don't.
to add on to the "nature of language" thing, i didn't fully realize the "i become convinced that the way i interpret words is the way that they're meant" is an autism thing. and this all explains a lot abt why i have such a hard time being understood.
i guess it comes from autistic people operating with a different social understanding, so we interpret meaning differently as well.
reminds me of the study that showed allistic to autistic communication is marked by lack of empathy and assumptions. situations where allistic people don't understand the way autistic people think, and autistic people don't understand the way allistic people think. except it often just becomes 'the autistic person did something wrong' in social situations.
when you have a DD/ID communicating really just becomes you constantly having to overextend yourself for other people. masking. scripting. repeating yourself. straining to find different ways to communicate something, and somehow it makes everything worse. and you're just trying to be understood instead of punished.
a lot of people aren't willing or ready (at first) to understand that people experience the world differently than themselves, even if they're neurodivergent. unfortunately none of us are immune to falling in line with the status quo at times. but that doesn't make it okay.
i wish people would just ask clarifying questions or how i feel because odds are i'm frustrated and need help with something - not trying to make people's lives harder.
