A little darkly ironic that so many trials fans are unaware of Gooseberry's ethnically jewish background despite Futterman literally screaming schmaltz in your face, and Phyllis herself being pitted by the trials as someone against the violent indoctrination of children into christian nationalist propaganda, someone inherently untrustworthy (something depicted through the use of "serving the body of Christ" to save the orphans from her "hedonistic and violent lifestyle") despite the Prime Assets very clearly being used as archetypes to traumatize the reagents into only trusting Easterman and in turn, the government, for use in sleeper agent assassinations. In a videogame critiquing american fascism, the erasure of jewish prejudice in a post world war 2 era is......well, definetly precidented, if you know anything about the repeal of pre-ww2 anti-jewish legislature because america didn't want to align itself with nazi ideals during the war, rushing to prove jewish people as white again despite previous efforts to mark them as colored for fear of large waves of jewish immigration in big cities taking trained jobs from the white folk. Jobs like doctors....or even dentists, maybe....
When Coyle calls the name Futterman "new york", he strips back every wartime pretext. She is still other in the eyes of the establishment. It's a shame the fandom doesn't often notice that piece of the puzzle.
